There's a quiet I feel when I'm walking in the woods, a feeling of no pressure or expectations, that what is happening is just happening, unfolding in a perfectly normal way. It just feels like time is moving correctly here. And when I return to the human world, there is this unnatural sense of time. It is like it's speeded up slightly. I think that's what I'm looking for in my walks--that perfectly natural sense of time.

Shifting focus. The beginning of a new year is always a wonderful opportunity to shift focus. Even though I do not believe in new year's resolutions, because change needs to be done when necessary (which is rarely just once a year), I do always have a special feeling about the beginning of January. The year feels like the untouched pages of history yet to be written and something about that excited me. Quickly we will move towards brighter days and soon enough nights will start to fade and make way for brighter, longer days again. I have lately been very inactive on social media, because I felt the strong need to focus on other things in life, but with the light, energy is returning and so is my creativity and desire to share the beauty around me. I have yet to go out and photograph in the deep snow that the recent snowstorm has brought us and for that I need to find a way to move in the hip-deep snow, but these are problems for another day.
