Last night I set my alarm for 8:30, planning to get up this morning refreshed, energized, and ready for my morning workout.
This morning, I vaguely remember turning my alarm off in a more-than-slightly-groggy state. Needless to say, I ended up oversleeping BIG TIME.
I won’t lie, when I finally rolled out of bed, I didn’t want to work out. I just wanted to lay back down in bed and binge-watch Netflix. (Grey’s, anyone?) But instead, I opened my blinds and some light in. I sat down at my newly-organized desk (pictures to be posted soon -- “hashtag studyblr”) and did my morning devotional, and then headed downstairs to grab some food.
As I ate my breakfast of an English muffin with peanut butter, a banana, and two hard-boiled eggs, I checked my e-mails, social media, and ended up on Pinterest. I swear I could spend forever on there. Don’t act like you couldn’t. When I checked Facebook, I saw ads for Kayla Itsines 7 Day Trials, VS, Target, and Old Navy’s active wear sales, and an ad for Gymshark. I took this as a sign that I should probably turn off HGTV, get off my butt, and work out.
Since I’m fighting off somewhat of a cold, I opted for a low-key workout today. I did a LISST workout on my treadmill (3.0 pace, 2 miles, about 40 minutes) while watching YouTube. It passes the time and gives me something to look at. Don’t get me wrong, I love listening to music on Spotify (there are some killer workout playlists available) when I work out, but sometimes I get bored staring ahead blankly at the same wall for the whole duration of my workout. I ended with a short plank session, doing 5 rounds of 30 seconds on and 30 seconds off. I’m working up to a full 5 minute plank, and I think this is a good way to start.
My post-workout meal was a small salad of iceberg lettuce, chopped grapes, a diced hard boiled egg, and half a serving of Olive Garden’s Italian salad dressing. I feel so much better after getting in some exercise for the day and eating healthy foods. My body felt heavy and draggy this morning (is that a word?) and I now feel light and ready to conquer anything life throws at me.
