      âRidiculous is one word for it,â Davis replies as he fumbles with his keys. Itâs a moment before he finally gets the door open, and once it is, he hurries the other inside. He unfolds his towel and uses it to dry his hair. When heâs satisfied, he shakes his hair out and runs his fingers through it to push it off of his forehead.       âIâm Davis Strider. And since Iâm at least 80% sure that your name isnât âcute guyâ it would be nice to know what it was.â

Whatever Jake had been rambling about for the passed few minutes was completely lost on him the moment he noticed how x had practically moved on top of him. It wasnât that it made him uncomfortable per say, but rather Jake was just quite the awkward person on occasion, and he didnât fully comprehend why it was that x had moved so close to him. But when the other stammers out an apology, he canât help but smile toward him gently and wave the action off.
âItâs quite alright. No harm done. I do enjoy your company, believe me I do, and I would love for you to stay, however if you are still that ail, perhaps you should go home and rest?â
Out of instinct the young English moves to place his hand on the otherâs forehead, but pauses and retracts his hand before he can even reach. It was second nature to him to check for fever when another was ill, he didnât even think about it. But then he felt earnestly foolish for the act, especially since x was not even human and probably couldnât have a fever in the first place.
âErâbut itâs all up to you. I mean, if youâd like to stay, you may. I trust you.â
âI-itâs my f-fault for dr-drinking so much any-anyway. I-I can be g-good.â he promises, looking up a little cross-eyed as Jake touches his forehead. If he were ill with something other than a hangover, he might feel even warmer than he already does. To Jake, he probably honestly does feel like he has a fever of some sort. But, he would, he burns hotter than a human naturally.
âM-my fr-friend tried to f-feed me but at the t-ime I was t-too gross f-feeling.â he admits, âWh-when I get h-home Iâll t-take c-care of it but that c-can wait.â he hums.
He puts a touch of distance between them, for Jakeâs comfort rather than his own. âH-how has w-work b-been?â he questions lightly. Concentrating on Jakeâs voice to ignore the boyâs pulse. He can be good...
