Okay, so this question is for any who has a period and has tried a mooncup or any other variation.
Iāve been wearing tampons since I first got my period in year 5 and theyāre just not cutting it anymore. I go through them like theyāre going out of fashion. Then one of my friends told me about the moon cup. Now, Iām a little nervous about the idea, but willing to try it out.Ā
One friend told me they got the Intimina Lilycup Compact because itās softer on insertion- they swear by it, but obviously everyone has different bodies and experiences so I was wondering if anyone had any reviews or recommendations with other similar products they can tell me a bit more about?
Any info youāre willing to give- both on this post, or privately in my dmās would be super helpful. Thank you :)

Ok, so I ordered my Lily Cup Compact (in size A) a few weeks ago during their Pink Friday sale. It came within a week or so and either yesterday or the day before I began my period.Ā
First off, I will start by saying that my first time inserting it while menstruating was not very difficult but that is because I had already tried inserting it beforehand. I strongly recommend this! While you may be a little dry and it might not feel 100%, at least you know how to insert it. Anyway, the big day came and I started bleeding. It took me maybe 15 minutes in the bathroom and no luck so I gave up and put in a tampon. Later that day I tried again and somehow it just clicked. It went in very easily and felt like nothing.Ā
These are just a list of cons & pros that I have experienced so far....
CONS:
-takes a little while to get used to insertion
-releases air bubbles that feel like leakage (that may just be me not creating enough of a seal idk)
-you cant really rinse it out if youāre in a public restroom so I guess try to find a single stall bathroom or change it right before you leave to go somewhere. If you change it right before you leave your house you should be good for 10-12 hours.
PROS:
-10 to 12 hours of protection (depending on Compact or regular style)
-$40 one time and youāre done
-easy to navigate once youāve figured it out initially
-compact style is easy to clean and carryĀ
-youāre saving the environment!
-ALL NIGHT PROTECTION! No more having to James Bond it to the bathroom in the morning because of that dreaded gush of blood.Ā
-No chance of TSS. While it is a very rare disease, it is a disease nonetheless. Sadly, rare instances happen to you. You thinkĀ āitās rare, I should be fine.ā but sleeping with tampons in IS DANGEROUS. Please be smart and buy a cup, Intimina products or not. If youāre sleeping in any kind of tampon go buy yourself a nice menstrual cup. I recommend Lily but hey, itās your vagina. Just please be careful!!!
I could go on about how great cups are. My female relatives and friends look at me funny when I mention that Iām using a menstrual cup and those that still menstruate Iām trying to convince to get one. Honestly, the best purchase Iāve made in awhile. Iām ready to have 10 hours of protection (especially overnight!) and no chance of TSS.Ā
