Family Visits: Lacey, Day 2

Narrator: And here we are back in the Fashion District for the annual Geekcon! Lovely! I have to say I have no idea who they’re all dressed up as but they look great. And Matilda certainly seems to be up to something. 

Peter Pan: I actually found this one kind of boring and had trouble getting through it. I see in Wendy the potential to be a compelling character. I felt so sad for her the whole time - no wonder she doesn’t want to grow up when she’s never had a chance to have a childhood, acting as a surrogate mother for her brothers and like 8 more children even in Neverland. Her brothers are running around Neverland going ham and she’s burdened with responsibilities and doesn’t get to have any fun whatsoever, just get attacked and kidnapped by its various inhabitants. But the things I find interesting about her are things the movie is not interested in and/or takes for granted. And I honestly don’t know why she still likes Peter Pan by the end because he’s kind of a dick to her. It goes without saying that everyone knows this movie is racist but it’s soooooooooo much worse than I ever could have remembered. I definitely have seen at least one or two versions of the stage musical at some point, possibly more or multiple times, because I remember some things about Peter Pan that aren’t in this movie.
