i really can’t stand the high and mighty attitude towards this. it doesn’t matter how someone finds a way to engage with literature and reading. it only matters that people do.
reading is fundamental. it is a major predictor of a person’s academic success and subsequent chances in life.
talk to a language teacher or librarian sometime. they are thrilled when people (ideally as kids) find a way to engage with books. and the best way is if they don’t do it out of obligation but genuine interest. you need motivation. a lot of people need extrinsic motivation. and it doesn’t matter how or why. a kid starts reading comic books because of superhero movies? great. grand. wonderful. someone picks up a book because oprah recommended it? brilliant.
mocking people for reading is so distasteful. it makes my blood boil. maybe spend more time reading and less time fabricating outrage.
My library book holds always seem to hit all at once, no matter how long the expected wait times were. Seven months, five weeks, twelve years. Nope! Just kidding. Here you go. All today. 📚♾️😭
I tease, but this does always seems to happen to me. I really do ❤️ my local library. And you can bet I'll never learn not to have a bunch of books on hold at once, because I always think I have them optimally staggered this time.
