Whatever update Xkit Rewritten or Tumblr's staff has made recently is really cooking the performance of the site on LibreWolf.
The extension was updated yesterday, so I guess it's just a matter of waiting 24 hours or something. Like, even now with it disabled the site is chugging along.
Wonder if they're trying to make the website hostile to ad blocking extensions, or if this is just usual glitchy nonsense.
For those who were curious about the difference between normal uBlock Origins and the lite version for chromium browsers...
I enabled all the built-in filters for these aside from the ones under regions/languages. There's a lot more features than I realized before checking for this, including cookie notice blockers, social widgets, "annoyances" (ai suggestions, chat widgets, newsletter notices, etc.), malicious URL blocklists, even anti-Facebook(???)
A few of these, notably 7/10 of the ones under "annoyances", are still available for the lite version, but it still clearly pales in comparison, and I noticed that it's missing a lot of useful features like custom rules, and things like the custom filters are a lot simpler over on Lite (see below)
As for the why, the official website states:
I'd get Librewolf if you haven't already. It has normal uBlock Origins out of the box, and it's basically just Firefox but most of the privacy features are enabled by default and the recent AI stuff is removed.
(also, note for those who get it, disable "Delete cookies and site data when LibreWolf is closed" under privacy to stay signed in on websites)

so, I've been using librewolf for a good few months now and i've not experienced any real problems with it, but something really weird just happened.
I turned on my pc for the second time today not even 10 minutes ago and opened librewolf as always, and I noticed things slowed down a lot. I opened the system monitor and found my ram was being used up really fast. Closed the browser, it went back down. I opened it again to see if the ram wound get used up again and it went all the way to 16 gb (which is to say ALL OF IT) and my pc fucking froze. I had to hold the power button until it shut down.
granted, I had like a million billion tabs open and now that there's only 4 the ram usage is at a much more reasonable 2,8-3,2 gb so I'm pretty sure that was the problem, but it's kind of weird since the tabs were open earlier today and everything was fine.
I've decided I'm gonna finally ungoogle my life a bit and give librewolf a try. Supposedly it's a lot more secure than chromium (and it's based on firefox).
Sigh. Today in sad goodbyes.
New tech bro says Firefox to [gag] evolve into "true AI browser".
Waterfox, Floorp [rilly], LibreWolf, Vivaldi, others?
I downloaded LibreWolf installer but still looking.
Some folks posted a series of config change-to-false, while others said updates kill that.
Just like Google plan with Chrome, Mozilla aren't sitting still on expanding Firefox into something resembling a web browser but with more A
A custom version of Firefox, focused on privacy, security and freedom.
