She’s so relatable to me, to a lot of people that may sound weird, even bad, but I don’t think it is. It feels is nice to have a character who’s not perfect, who constantly has to struggle and be supported as they try to be better, who can be self-destructive and pushes people away, went through trauma, and has ADHD.

Hey y’all, most of you don’t know but I’m a recovering alcoholic. I’m on my second time getting sober right now and I really hope it sticks this time, but that isn’t what I’m making this post for.

We’re not the monsters general society and culture has made us out to be, and this goes for all forms of addiction. Can we do absolutely terrible things? Absolutely, but we’re not unique in that.

I know a lot of people have had awful experiences in their lives with people they’re close with who have struggled with addiction, including myself. I’m not saying this to invalidate your pain and what you’ve gone through, just to say that we are people, and there is a spectrum to what we do just like everyone else.

We just want to be treated like people. I can guarantee you that a lot of us don’t feel like we’re connected to society as a whole because of our addictions, and being ostracized for them just makes it worse.
