Color-Change Chameleon || Chapter 3 Execution
Niru trembled a bit, keeping a sad smile plastered on their face. They had no objections. They knew what they deserved. Even if they had any kind of doubt, there was no place for it now.
Niru Nanzo would finally get what they wanted.
The bird brain was dropped onto a floor covered in various spots. Red. Blue. Green. Yellow. Walls came up around them, sporting a similar fashion. Multi-colored dots boxed Niru in on all sides except for the front of the room, which only held two spinners on it. One was over a simplified silhouette of the human body, and the other was over a circle partitioned into the four colors of the surrounding spots.
As Niru looked around, wondering if this is really an execution of all things, the spinners started up. Round and around they go, until they eventually settled on-
Left arm, green. That seemed simple enough. Niru reached over with little effort to touch a green circle. There was a congratulatory 'ding' before the spinners started up again.
Right leg, blue. Niru cautiously went to step on a blue dot, and right before their foot touched the ground, the circle changed to a bright red. There was a loud buzzing noise as Niru made contact with the dot, and the ceiling opened up for a small, red spear to shoot out and impale them in the foot. They shrieked in pain and the spinners started up again as Niru tried to wedge the metal out of their foot.
Niru looked up at the spinners to see their next target, and they slammed their fist against a yellow dot, earning themself another 'ding'. They looked around, noticing that the dots were starting to flash random colors as the spinners started up even faster than before. Niru grinned. Being a social chameleon was like being an actor, and they had one final show to put on.
As the spinners switched from color to color, limb to limb at increasing speeds, Niru did their best to keep up. Left, right, down, blue, yellow, green. The noise in the room became a constant drone of buzzing, only interrupted by the occasional, mocking bell. As Niru had started to look like a pincushion, they slowed down, not even bothering to try and follow the wall's commands. And all of a sudden- Everything stopped. The spinners, the buzzing, the spears.
Niru Nanzo was still standing with every last ounce of their strength.
It was then that the spinners started up again, slowly this time.
Head.
Green.
Every dot in the room glowed green in that moment, bathing the area in an eerie light. Niru felt the entire world crush them as they finally fell to the ground.
Before their head touched the floor, the entire room changed to red in an instant.
As the final spear impaled their head, Niru left this world with the smile of someone who had only found life in a place full of death.
