The most underrated question a parent could ask a child is “are you happy?”

Sometimes parents do not realize that their child have feelings too. That they are very much justified to be upset, to be sad, to be angry at whatever they want to.

Your child having negative feelings towards you is not at all disrespectful, because they are human. And they are fully justified to be upset at you just like how you can get angry at them.

Sometimes you dont realize that anyone - and i mean anyone - could be the victim of depression. Sometimes parents just does not understand that.

Your child could be as much stressed as you are even if you face different problems. So you are not, and never will be justified to tell your child that what you’re facing is so much more harder than what they are facing. Because its not. They are trying their best too and what they need is support, and if you dismiss them like that, how can you be sure that they can get through it? How can you be sure that they are okay?

Not to mention the pressure you put on them by telling them that they have to get good scores. How can your child study and fully function if they themselves have no more motivation to do anything?

So i beg you - im seriously begging you - to ask your child or yourself those three words question.

“Are you happy?”

Ask them if they are happy with their school, their friends, environment, everything.

Not the usual cliche question of “how was your day?” Because everyone can lie to that kind of question. Ask something that will make them think about how they really and truly feel.

It could make a lot of difference to someone, because sometimes thats all the question they need to tell someone that they need help. That they are unhappy and they dont know why. That they can no longer hold on.

As you know people in Tyler’s hometown had a meetup and it seems only necessary to have one in Troye's (ok we all know he was born in South Africa but shush - Perth's more of his homeown) hometown. So any troyler fans who live in Perth listen up: I was thinking about it and instead of just going out into the city and doing whatever I thought of a much better idea. We get together and go do something that would actually make a difference. I'm not sure what yet but wouldn't it be cool for us all to go volenteer somewhere? Possibly PMH? I can't do it without all of Perths Tyler/Troye's people! - so send me a message and we can sort something out. Also if you don't live in Perth can you still reblog this to spread the word :)
