Do you think the hate for trans mascs/trans men got worse after isff? I noticed it more after she got banned
idk how long isff has been around but like. ever since i came out i was fairly aware of anti transmasculinity in the trans community. i always felt like "the wrong kind of trans" as a trans man. however, anti transmasculinity has gotten a lot louder in the recent years, at least since 2023
generally, the lgbt community is always looking for a scapegoat group. when i was a kid, it was asexual people. the "ace discourse" was a big thing, people were debating whether or not asexuals are inherently queer, people were saying that asexuals were inherently homophobic and transphobic, claiming that asexuals who have experienced corrective rape were "stealing that term from lesbians," ect. transmasc lesbians were a big one recently, and currently trans men are the big scapegoat class. the thing is that none of these movements just spawned in. there have always been aphobic people, there have always been transphobic and anti transmasculine people in our community, its just a matter of them finding an opportune time to spread their bigotry. a lot of the scapegoat groups ive seen in the last several years have been transmasculine in some way. a lot of transmeds targetted people who identified as transmasc or trans men but didnt pass as cis men/didnt "try to pass" (whatever that means. i dont try to pass either, i just do. but no ones accusing me of not trying to pass) and transmasc lesbians were targetted, and often misgendered as trans men (if they didnt identify that way, which was most of them) in order to more effectively fearmonger against and harrass them. i remember a post from a trans man where he was talking about transandrophobia in the queer community on tiktok, and a cis woman made a "response video," but deliberately edited out the parts of him saying that he is a trans man, and his trans status was very important context to the discussion
trans men and transmascs have always been a target, at least for as long as i can remember, and trans men who have been in the trans community longer than i have say that it was going on long before i involved myself in the community and was aware of it (over 8 years ago). but it has gotten more pervasive, and i think its because the lgbt community is always looking for a scapegoat class to blame all of our oppression on. and none of these people ever disappear either. i ran into an aphobe on facebook who said that asexuals are all homophobic and are holding the community down, in 2025! theyre always around and are always waiting for a time to hate on a new group of lgbt people that they think dont belong
