Arthur: Hey you want some left-overs?
Overkill: What's that?
Arthur: You've never had left-overs?
Overkill: No because I'm not a quitter.
What’s for dinner returns with What To Do With Left Over Refrie Beans
It was such a great deal, a resturante size can refries but there is only so many bean burritos a person can eat in a sitting and I’m out of tortillas And too lazy/tired to make fry bread ...
Refrie “Lasagna”
In a large casserole pan, that has been lightly oiled:
one layer rice
one layer salsa as desired (not too wet!)
one layer refrie beans
one layer cheese
one layer topping (option/ make up your own) mix of diced olives, dried bell peppers, grated carrot, diced onion and other veg -- if you have a picky eater, mince and mix so they can’t see what they are eating and then --
one layer cheese to cover topping
sprinkle last layer with favourite herbs and spices (smoke paprika, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper, oregano/cilantro, garlic powder)
optional base: polenta, either warm or if cold then sliced / crumbled to cover bottom of a greased/oiled pan
bake in medium oven until hot/warm all the way through; if all ingredients are cold at the start, use a small bit of additional water (or salsa juice) and cover casserole in foil to heat evenly and a bit quicker without drying out edges/layers
The Best Turkey Casserole
The Best Turkey Casserole
This dish has been my favorite since I was a kid. My mom used to ask my brother and I what special food we wanted for our birthdays (1 week apart), and this family recipe passed down from our grandmother was usually our request. If you’ve got extra turkey you’d like to use up in a meaningful way- this is definitely a great choice!
My brother came out to visit recently for my birthday, and I…

When RK spoke of themes in cuisines around the world on the OPOS FB page, it was just knowledge but it hadn’t become an experience yet. The themes idea just got internalised last week. In the past week, I made OPOS VadaKari and OPOS Kothu Paratha. Both are really easy to make and a huge hit with Krishnan. My mother enjoys the VadaKari but not the Kothu Paratha because essentially she doesn’t like…

Left-overs by Don Moyer Via Flickr: My attitude about left-overs is starting to shift. (Brush pen drawing in sketchbook.)

Museum of celebrity left-overs
Located inside the Old Boatstore Café in Cornwall, England, in an appointment only corridor there’s a blue, seemingly normal display case tacked to the wall. Upon closer inspection, one can see various food articles like crusts of bread, sugar packets, chickpeas, and coffee-stained napkins sheltered under little glass domes, all leftover from the plates of celebrities who have dined at the café. The actress, Mia Wasikowska, for example, has a courgette from her soup on display, while Prince Charles has some bread pudding he chose to leave unfinished. The café has an open and community-minded atmosphere, priding itself on vegetarian food and locally-sourced seafood, but one must arrange a private tour to view this semi-masticated celebrity collection. It never stops to fascinate me what some people find time to do, and what’s more, I love them all for it. This world would have been a lot greyer and duller place without them – Ted
