Down at @rotateshoreditch for January @lebunuk have made their menu vegan. But if you didn’t know this then you probably wouldn’t have even guessed. Andy hasn’t just made an alternative for vegans to have, he’s made burgers that could easily be better than with beef. Using my favourite @movingmountainsfoods for the patties, vegan cheese, sriracha burger sauce, candied vegan bacon, red and green chillies, and mustard, this is the Hot Mess and it may be my favourite burger Le Bun have ever made. It just had the perfect amount of heat without being too hot, and those sauces work together so well. The vegan bacon is absolutely spot on in texture, this FEELS like bacon. There is a beef version available but honestly you don’t need it. Go for the plant option, and get down to @rotateshoreditch to try it out, and 100% get the truffle Mac and cheese. It’s vegan too, and it’s INCREDIBLE. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 | Not that id ever doubt @lebunuk’s ability, but Andy’s vegan Chick’n burger surprised me at how good it was. Their seitan Chick’n piece is the closest resemblance to chicken that I’ve tried. Whereas THIS’ (brand) chicken more so emulates the texture, this one is all about the taste. Le Zinger is a vegan alternative to the KFC classic, which is accompanied by a potato rosti, chipotle zinger sauce, vegan cheese, and v-ranch. It was created along with chef @laurenwcapulet, a long time friend of Andy’s. It’s seriously awesome and it SMASHES every vegan chicken burger I’ve had so far. Le Mac from @lebunuk at @_birthdays. Two aged rarebreed beef patties, black truffle burger sauce, smoked pickles, American cheese, truffle beurre noisette glaze & veal jus. £16. I had this at National Burger Day, but my god, I didn't think it could get any better than it was then, but it is. This was one of the juiciest most flavoursome burgers I've ever eaten. I've been preaching about Le Bun for nearly 3 years, and all they do is get better and better. The beef was something like I'd never tasted before, it was more like biting into the best piece of steak I've ever had, rather than a minced patty. The burger was loaded with pickles, and the sharp juices gave me that pickled taste all the way through. The glaze was incredible, so sweet. The truffle burger sauce was rich and creamy, and blended well with the pickles. Even at £16 this seems like it should cost more. Also, it's MASSIVE. Here is burger #1 from last nights @mrhydeldn #NationalBurgerDay at @streetfeastldn Hawker House. Le Mac from @lebunuk. Two rare breed beef patties, black truffle burger sauce, smoked pickles, American cheese, truffle beurre noisette glaze, veal jus. I didn't have any doubt that Le Bun wouldn't let me down, and they delivered with every expectation. Boasting one of the longest queues all day, this miniature tower of a burger resembled everything a Big Mac is, but with the French twist that goes into all of their dishes. The veal jus and truffle beurre noisette were incredible, poured over the top of the bun, allowing the juices to sink through the burger. It was sweet and rich, with a meaty taste, perfect for mopping up with the burger.
