#leather craft

the belt(s)! this is veg tan leather and mmm goatskin, i think. the veg tan is dyed by me, and the trim was an offcut chosen for colour (we love you, offcuts). all hand punched and hand stitched.

the back join is necessary because i didn’t have long enough veg tan but also it makes storing the belt way easier.

i did the tabard first—got the perfect piece of leather, with this marbling effect—but figuring out how to fasten it was a head scratcher. i’m really happy with it and equally happy i’ll never have to make it againnnnn.

(a challenge with using offcuts is that you don’t have excess material to mess up with!)

i made the shield in silver class (copper and aluminium)! it’s my grey warden dog tag ahahha. it has a magnetic seal but i might add a hook, too. the leather trim here is pigskin (offcut, again chosen for colour), which i’d never used before, and just. mistakes were made.

finally, the trousers! the knee pads were super straightforward once i’d figured out how to fasten them; they’re more veg tan, with some rivets.

the trouser panels (yes, offcut) were challenging in that i’d mapped out the shapes with material but hadn’t accounted that adding leather would change what the fabric did? i’d had curves for the inner leg initially but they were too long once i got to that part. so i did the ‘curve’ as a separate piece, which i think looks good.
