The Enemy of Cartoons: The STATIC
Yeah, I held off on posting this concept for a while because I wanted to keep it a surprise, but yeah! One of the things I didn’t like about Bleedman’s comic was that the villains kind of sucked. Don’t get me wrong—they had potential, but it was very obvious he didn’t really know what he was doing.
While I definitely still have that cartoony, pure-evil villain type (which I’ll get to in another post), I also wanted to introduce a different kind of villain in the form of eldritch abominations. Unlike your typical arch-nemesis plotting to rule the world, these kinds of villains are more like forces of nature. They don’t need to be explained—they just need to represent a concept.
All of this happened before the events of CN High, and this concept mostly exists to explain why all these different characters are living together—and why some characters aren’t around anymore. I’ll probably explore this idea in more detail later on; think of it as a prequel to the main series that roughly follows the same format as FusionFall, but with a few key differences.
The STATIC still lingers as a quiet threat in the background of the main series. While they aren’t as dangerous as when they first emerged, they can definitely still cause problems. And what’s worse… they might be spreading to the other schools. So yeah, that’s going to be a problem.
But for now, they’re mostly contained within the borders of CN City.
(And if anyone asks no, Pibby isn’t in this story… there’s obviously some inspiration from that idea, but it was never picked up for an official full series and I don’t have a full enough knowledge on the character to truly incorporate them here)
