my most enduring hot take is that the count of monte cristo should have an adaptation where edmond is a woman but no other genders are changed
it wouldn't work in source (sexism! privilege!) but some of these adaptations get so crazy with it anyway where's my lesbian monte cristo
the actual lesbians in the book get written out of a lot of adaptations and i just think it would be cool and fun and good if edmond and mercedes were lesbians too, and i like to ponder how that would change the story
i just like women and want to see a girl go crazy insane the way edmond did #winning
Forgot that I could post memes here lmao
...car je ne suis point un homme banal, tant s'en faut.
And now I finished Villefort. Who knew I'd ever finish that line, eh? Still, it was really fun to do. The shake is there to symbolise both Heloise and what he did to Edmond.
Idk if I'll make any other portrait, it all depends solely on my findign a sufficiently inspiring reference and idea.

Modern au Villefort
I have one main gripe with Le Comte de Monte Cristo (2024) and it’s that we don’t get a good sense for Edmond’s generosity, and a balanced depiction of his sense of justice
Like, yes, we see how he is the “agent of a blind fate” but what’s so important in the book is showing not just his punishment of the villains, but how he rewards those who stood by him
Namely, Mr. Morell.
It could be argued that the sparing of Albert shows that side of him, but that was for love of Mercedes. In contrast, the entire Morell family being anonymously saved by that same agent of fate would have been a FAR better way to flesh out the Count in the movie
