Some rivalries just never seemed to die. And Austria’s rivalry with Turkey was one of them.

Even after centuries Roderich could not find himself to like the man, or even just tolerate him. He was a ruffian whom Roderich only had bitter memories of, or at least he only chose to remember the worst moments. And a part of him did feel badly for dragging Egypt into this. Yasser was a fine man and Roderich held no particular grudge against him. But, he was close to Turkey, and Roderich couldn’t help but be reminded of that fact whenever they met.

Even though he’d attempted to be amiable during their meeting, Roderich did inevitably end up complaining about Turkey and whatever clash they’d last had. Some degrading but still high class insults had been dropped, and perhaps he should have thought a bit more before he insulted the friend of his company.

Yasser’s words struck Roderich into stunned silence and hit a rather sensitive and core anxiety he kept hidden. Most didn’t care to see past the wall of false confidence he put up, or if they did, did not bother with it, and yet this man he so rarely spoke with had quite elegantly and swiftly pulled it down. Needless to say, Roderich was a bit put off by it.
