I put this run off as long as possible today.... it was indeed wicked fucking hot. When I finally got started at 8pm, it was still 90 degrees and so humid. I may have paused halfway through to lay in the grass and catch my breath when I stopped at a light to cross the road. 😂 It was brutal. In a good way, mostly, especially once it was over. But I was annoyed that I didn't hit a single mile under 10 minutes, even though I was running at 75-80% effort. That should be closer to 9 min miles. I'm just trying to remember that all the hard runs this summer will pay off in the fall.
It’s raining outside. So I laced up my sneakers and hit the pavement. I welcomed the familiar fire burning inside my lungs, the way my heart transformed into a locomotive, and the ability to get my mind focused on one thing. How much my muscles were burning. Not how you left me feeling, not the way I stayed up crying in a ball last night, not the way you look at her the way you so shortly looked at me, and definitely not the way I lost a lover and best friend. I missed the heavy breathing and the taste of blood on my tongue. I’m glad I finally pushed myself to do this, maybe I’ll continue to do it instead of sulking around waiting for you to come back. If you do, I’ll be able to run away from you this time.

Waiting waiting, always waiting.
I hate that awkward time when you are waiting for it to get late so you can go for a run. This DST shit sucks.

Late night doughnut run because people say that it being National Doughnut Day is a good excuse to binge on doughnuts. How can I argue with that?
W10 D3: 5 Mile Run
It took me a while, what with work and then a little social time catching up with my buddy who had been away for a few days to sunny LA, but I finally got it done.
I also had a little extra motivation as during that socialising I ate Pizza!
11:30pm I strapped my shoes on and got out the door.
Distance: 5mi
Time: 47:48 (9:33pace)
Took it easy to be honest and just made the run comfortable. The last mile was the quickest as I dug in a little which brought my average pace down a bit.
Only downside was that I finally tore the skin off my healing blister. Unfortunately even though the skin underneath is pretty developed as its had a decent time to heal, I still ended up bleeding for tearing a bit off that went too deep :/ I now have about an inch long cut that runs along the side of my foot! ... Ouch!
I would show pictures but I dont know how squeamish people on Tumblr are! ;)
Im hoping it heals by the time I run again tomorrow. 6 miles to do!
