YAY!!!! I'm happy to be an enabler. I hope you will like Discworld, the books are both funny AND deep, which is a rare feat!

You could either do the chronological reading (I'm not a fan of that order, because the best books came later) or choose a series and stick to that, later reading another series (and some stand-alone books). The series books are City Watch, Witches, Death and Rincewind novels.

My favourite is City Watch, since that's where my beloved Havelock, Lord Vetinari features the most (he is never the main character, but still). These novels take place in the city of Ankh-Morpork, and on top of the City Watch there's also The Industrial Revolution books (The Truth, Going Postal, Making Money and Raising Steam). I made an order recommendation for a friend, and it looks like this (the highlighted books are my favourites):

against his initial (and tbh better) judgement he cares very much for astarion and wanted to be very careful after the boundary was set because he's a casually physically affectionate person.

:shawn is definitely wearing a ridiculous heart bedazzled tshirt and buying chocolates before going in to the precinct (all specified to his lover’s tastes; lassie likes the fruit chocolates, gus likes the almond chocolates, and jules likes fudge)

:gus has taken his first real day off to be around his lovers but gets drawn into a case by shawn anyways; but there’s nowhere else he’d rather be because when his lovers are distracted he gets to admire them unabashedly. he has to make them take a break though for the date he planned weeks ago, a painting class. him and juliet have a great time but shawn and lassie bicker the whole time.

:jules made customized valentines for each of them and has glitter glue smeared on her arms (shawn deduces what she’s done but keeps it to himself because she looks so excited to distribute them) she gives them to her lovers after they solve the case and they struggle not to cry because jules was always the best at wielding words honestly.

:lassie made dinner reservations for four later in the day at a nice restaurant and when they arrive each place at the table has a customized bouquet that makes it obvious who is sitting where because they’re so personalized. shawn gets a mix of white and pink carnations, jules gets roses and babies breath and gus gets tulips that are a sort of ombré of pink and red. yes. he is still embarrassed at the outpour of affection he recieves afterward.
