So, Lasix...
Important warning about the Furosemide/Lasix medication.
Some of you know I was in a coma from the end of May until close to two weeks later, and other health stuff went bad while I was there, but that’s another post. I had a seizure that knocked me into one, and while I did get an epilepsy diagnosis(I was having silent seizures long before I was ever on this pill), what caused the seizure that day was brought on by a pill called Furosemide- the generic for Lasix. It also comes in liquid, mine was the pill form.
I have documented issues with my electrolytes and such, but was never warned that Furosemide can tank that bad enough to put you in a coma. It is an extreme side-effect that doesn’t happen to everyone, but it did to me, and I want to warn others to be safe. It can also cause regular seizures in some.
For me, the lower dosages stopped working and it had to be upped to 80mg, but I didn’t take it every day, only as needed and never more than one. I’m on my legs a lot and have issues with them retaining fluid and swelling.
It’s a water-pill with many things it can be prescribed for, but if you’re on it, please be careful and drink some powerade or other electrolyte drink to keep it up. I’m still messed up from the coma time and not fully recovered from it, made alot of progress though. I don’t want anyone else to go through what I did and am making this warning to hopefully help others.
