Vida had her MRI today at Kansas State University because they rearranged their schedule to get her MRI done today instead of the consult today and the MRI tomorrow to reduce her stress since she doesn't like the vet. Unfortunately, it was not good news. Vida has a 12mm x 14.3mm x 13.3mm meningioma (cancerous tumor) on her olfactory nerve pressing into her brain. The vet said it is a very slow growing type of cancer and that it wouldn't likely grow large enough to kill her before old age does, and the only thing it causes is seizures which can usually be controlled with medication, so we can treat the symptoms and ignore it, or I can talk to CSU about doing radiation or surgery. He said the big downside of the type of radiation that she'd need is that it can cause death and damage of healthy brain tissue, which can cause rapid neurological degeneration, so he doesn't necessarily think it's the best call, but since he's not an oncologist he can't make that recommendation and I need to talk to CSU. Her GoFundMe is still going on, and as we explore our options, any money and reblogs will help, thank you. https://www.gofundme.com/f/standing-with-vida-after-her-seizure?
