Have you seen awsmpandame's quote on fake girl gamers and real girl gamers? Apparently gamers are now fake if they attend conventions in 'slutty outfits'. One tag was League of Legends, so I guess if you're a LoL fan you can't cosplay at a convention, ever. What are your thoughts?
Honestly, I am so fucking sick of this bullshit about what a real girl game is/does/looks like. This dichotomy about who is and isn't a real girl game is just toxic as fuck. And I'm going to quote someone a lot smarter than me about this:
I’m going to sound like I’m wearing a tin foil hat here, but this is the truth:Â
The system will try to turn you against each other. That’s how it keeps you down.
I know, I know, but it’s the God’s honest truth.  Well-intentioned assholes* will try to set you against each other to be Queen of Shit Mountain. They will tell you that she’s jealous of you, that she wants your job/seat/man/lipstick/whatthefuckeverbullshit, they’ll tell you she’s crazy and that you can’t trust her.Â
Don't fall for it.
I’m not saying you can’t compete with women — you can and will — but you do it like Helen and Carol, like Maverick and Goose, YOU MAKE EACH OTHER BETTER and you gain respect for each other in that competition.  (And I’m not saying every woman is your friend, either.  If she tells you she’s “one of the boys” or that “she doesn’t like working for women” because they’re “catty,” CROSS THE FUCKING STREET TO GET AWAY. Don’t wish her ill and don’t hasten her demise, but give her wide berth because she is poison and she will implode and you don’t want to be caught up in it.)Â

Women need to support each other. Women may make up 45% of the gaming market, but that does not mean we are treated as half of the market. We are treated as a fifth of the market or less. We are subjected to a lot of fucking bullshit from men who think that they can gatekeep us from things such as gaming and comics and everything else deemed nerdy. We should not subject other women about that bullshit. We need to support other women. And really, deeming "fake girl gamers" to be slutty just reeks of slut-shaming and body policing. Which is just fucked up and unnecessary. We should not shame a woman for a choice she makes. Because here's the thing: cosplaying is fucking expensive because none of these characters wear normal everyday clothes. People who decide to cosplay are hardcore fans. Not fake anything.Â
And more importantly, this idea about what is a real gamer in general needs to be eradicated. People that think that they can deem who is and isn't a real gamer based on cosplay, preference, gender identity, race, sexual identity and anything else are fucking elitists. Those are not people you want to emulate. Because here is who gets to choose if they're a gamer or not: they do. It is a label they can choose to claim or not. And their choice is valid no matter what.Â
