“THE VOLUNTEER”
by Fintan Magee
“There wasn’t much of a street art scene when I was growing up,” Fintan Magee told @Streetartnews about growing up in Brisbane, Australia. “Everything revolved around graffiti, lettering, bombing, tagging.” With a sculptor father and landscape artist, however, Magee’s interest in painting soon led him to street art and a move toward figurative painting. With an impressive body of work completed, depicting the relationship of humans, nature, and civilization, Magee is one of the world’s most renowned street artists. In 2016, spending several days on lift above Duckboard Place and ACDC Lane, Magee created this 70-foot-tall installation for the Melbourne Art Restaurant Cocktail Sound (MARCS) food and beverage festival. @fintan_magee
