The rules. Alright, I want to make sure that they are clear. This is a fan week is for Lancaster (Ruby Rose & Jaune Arc). Which takes place in September. If you have early submissions, you can submit them to the blog, and they will be in the queue until September. I will not be accepting any submissions that are not Lancaster. No ploy ship fics or art will be accepted. If they aren’t the main focus, I know it sounds odd? But trust me, I got a few direct submissions last year that were not Lancaster at all, and I have to be thorough and transparent.

 Any and all submissions are accepted as long as those Jaune and ruby are the main characters. That includes fanfiction, fanart, fan comics, podfics, and more. If it’s those two, I want to see what you can come up with. Finally, try to follow the days prompt; there is some wiggle room for the submission. This is about celebrating this ship! Having fun and really reminding ourselves why we like these two dorks together! Remember to use the tag #Lancasterweek and add in @lancasterweek so I can reblog your work. You know Tumblr, the website is held together with glue sticks and bubblegum. So try to spread this post and make sure that all the shipper finds out and want to join. Remember the latest submission allowed is until October 8th.

This year because of everything that happened to me personally and as well to hopefully get more submissions than last year? I made a prompt list with alternative prompts; if you don’t like the initial one, you don’t have to do both. It’s an alternative options if you don’t like them.

Day 1.   Distance/ College AU: with distance, it’s either emotional, physical, or anything, everything in between the two. College is exactly how it sounds and how you write or draw this up to you.

Day 2.   Illusions/ Crossover Au: when I say illusion, I mean whether it’s a mirage, a place where you see illusions of things that aren’t real. A crossover with your favorite fandom outside RWBY.

Day 3.   Memories/ Telepathy AU: whether it’s memories of better times or reflecting on the past bittersweetly. Or thinking back on the memories of the past and realizing you could have done better or been better. Telepathy AU is almost self-explanatory 1; of the characters, maybe Ruby, maybe Jaune, has telepathy, and now I have to deal with it.

Day 4.   Mystery/ Deserted Island AU: mystery, whether it’s something they need to solve at each other, or anything you can come up with, I’m not gonna try to box in your creative. With royalty AU again, go ham. The Sky is the limit; just make sure that it’s about Lancaster. Considering where volume 9 is taking place on a strange island slash dimension ?

Day 5.   Secrets/ Switched Au: whether secrets from one another or secrets from the world. Switched au is that everything is mostly the same except everyone, but Weiss is now a Faunus of some kind.

Day 6.   Strength/ Blind Date AU: whether in the strength of character, the strength of minder, strength of will or strength of heart, or physical strength, we want to be technical. Blind AU sounds as easy as it stated because it is someone sets one of the two dorks up on a blind date, hilarity can ensue, sweetness can ensue; it is up to you

I hope all of you are staying safe during quarantine washing your hands and wearing masks when you leave the house. Any and all questions you have can be asked on this blog directly, or you can send dms on this blog.

Day 1. Jealousy - Showing Jealousy, being jealous, or having others being jealous of them together.

Day 2. Hobbies - Straight forward sharing hobbies, getting interested in each other hobbies or you make up some hobbies on this one the sky is the limit on what they would want to for hobbies.

Day 3. Eavesdropping- Hearing conversations about each other or something. How you take this up to you.

Day 4. Reassurance – They are two leaders both have doubts about themselves, maybe they need a pep talk from his best friend.

Day 5. Star Gazing- There are enough times where they are at night, where it's traveling under the stars, doing huntsmen work at night or just talking at night for you to have fun with it

Day 6. Flirting- Let you mind run wild on how to interpret this.

Lancaster Week Day 1

Prompt: Fairytale (or myth)

I haven’t written for a long while but I thought I’d try writing a little something for Lancaster week to get some practice again. Hope you enjoy this short little drabble that was 100% inspired by Zaheela’s amazing drawing.

Cold.

She was so cold.

It was all around her, drawing her closer to the darkness as the weight on her ankles sunk her lower and lower.

They had decided she was the perfect bait for the creature and so they had forcefully thrown her in, but it seemed it was not going to come and she was going to be condemned to this cold, dark fate. Never to be found again.

She could feel herself fading as it filled her. There was nothing she could do to stop it.

And then something seemed to chase the darkness away. A golden yellow light took its place and suddenly she could feel it.

Warmth.

Comforting, soothing.

It enveloped her and she wondered if this was what the end was like.

It seemed to last forever before she felt her surroundings had changed.

She was no longer sinking. Her back was against something coarse.

The silence that had been present before was gone, replaced by sounds that she found familiar.

The lapping of waves, and the calls of birds.

Her eyes slowly fluttered open to be greeted by the sight of the cloudy blue sky.

“I’m alive.”

Sitting up, she began to take in her close surroundings.

She was no longer in the depths of the sea but on the shore of the beach, the waves lapping close to her bare feet which no longer had the ball and chain clamped around her ankles.

The confusion she felt was soon replaced with alertness as something moved in her peripheral vision.

Turning her head to the right, she looked over at the large rocks that were against the shoreline and spotted a figure peeping out from behind one of them.

She froze when she realized the figure looking at her was not human.

While humanoid and male in appearance, the figure’s forearms had what appeared to be fins ending by his elbows and they, along with his torso, had golden yellow scales which matched the colour of the messy hair on the top of his head. His ears were extremely long and pointed and his eyes...

They were a piercing azure blue surrounded by black sclera and they watched her with curiosity.

She slowly started to try and get onto her feet so she could approach but as soon as she did he dove into the water, allowing her to see he had no legs but a yellow tail with several fins attached.

Standing there in stunned silence she watched as he disappeared from view.

He was what they had been using her as bait for.

He was a siren...and he had saved her life.

The question was:

“What kind of question is that?” Puffing out her cheek, Ruby shifted herself in his lap, legs now draped over one leg.

“Humor me, what kinda of story do you think we’ve had?” With a hum, Ruby thought hard about his question, before raspberring a little.

“Well, We can’t call it a fairy tale, nor a tragic horror story. It was too sane for it to be a space oddessy or some kind of super hero story. Maybe a divine comedy?” She tried not to snicker at the cross look that flashed across Jaune’s face, “No... Too straight forward when it came to us to be a Mystery... and if we’ve suffered too much tragedy for it to be one of Blake’s romance novels... It’s just... our story.”

Jaune: Will. You. StopTRYINGTOGETYOURSELFSHOTDOWN?!?

Ruby: Oh come on, what could go wrong?

Jaune: A LOT OF THINGS. I’m the one whose spec’d to take hits, not your speedy, glass cannon butt!

Ruby: I thought you liked watching it.

Jaune: You know I can’t answer that! If I make the joke I KNOW you’re thinking of, Your sister will castrate me and then kill me. If I let you get shot down, then your sister AND dad will do unspeakable things!
