“You’re amazing.”

Mingyu grinned, “I know.”

“I mean that as an insult.”

“I know,” Mingyu repeated. He ate a piece of meat and took the tongs from Minghao’s hands. He began to cut them into bite-sized pieces. “Eat.”

Minghao did. This BBQ place was their go-to comfort food ever since they began dating years ago, and it easily became their mandatory stop on every date. They didn’t feel the need to change that habit, even with the addition of a five-year-old daughter to their small family.

“We should take Jia here again,” Mingyu said after a while. He nodded at a new menu poster near the cashier. “They finally have another ice cream flavour.”

Minghao sighed, “I don’t know why she doesn’t like vanilla. I can’t believe she threw a tantrum over vanilla ice cream that time.”

“Should we order it?” Mingyu said with his mouth full. He chewed a particularly fresh lettuce loudly. Minghao frowned at him. “Ice cream, I mean. For dessert.”

“Sure.”

“Blueberry,” Mingyu nodded. “Let’s order more ice cream on room service later.”

“It’s too expensive. We can always buy some at the convenience store and use the hotel’s fridge.”

“But, we’re on a date,” Mingyu pouted again. There was a smear of sauce on his chin. “I’ll pay. Don’t worry about it.”

Minghao stared at him. Mingyu batted his eyelashes, exaggerating his pout. Sighing, Minghao took a piece of tissue and dabbed it on Mingyu’s dirty chin. “Do whatever you like.”
