Omg, that’s a throwback! I actually love this AU... it was a deancas version of the scripted TV comedy “Last Man on Earth,” which I thought was really funny. There’s basically an extinction-level event and Dean believes he’s the last person alive on Earth. He drives around spray painting “ALIVE IN KANSAS CITY” (his hometown, the actual show is set elsewhere, but SPN) in case someone else is out there. He happens upon Cas by pure luck and they have a connection-at-first-sight type deal that’s partly driven from being lonely but is certainly *cough* profound. Dean and Cas drive around in this amazing RV and see all kinds of places and things while working on planning for long-term survival. Just like in “Deserted,” Cas finds a pet and won’t let Dean eat it, lol. There wasn’t a lot of interest when I published it, especially because it started as a chapter of promptober collection which people don’t tend to read, so I left it go. It is complete, so to speak, there are no cliffhangers, I just planned for there to be a lot more. It’s my early writing, too, so I’m not sure how great the editing is, lol. I’d like to come back to it someday. I love the enemies-friends-lovers trope. When they start out "That guy is SUCH an asshole" and I'm like "XD just you wait". Or even the enemies who fall into bed together because the sexual tension is just TOO high and they're fighting... and then fighting turns into sex, and then eventually someone changes sides and it's love. I also love post-apocalyptic stories of all kinds (not just end!verse) where TFW/Destiel has to fight and survive as a badass team.
