Regarding the recent post, I’ve actually been crazy curious to learn about the time loop premise. It feels so mysterious, but I’ve been off on the side patiently & politely waiting lol.
OH BOY
ok so at first time loop fic was just this idea I had of, what if poor Ellen after the end of the movie wakes up at the beginning of the movie (post prologue). and so she keeps trying to prevent all the death and destruction but a) she's a woman in 1838 Germany and b) she's mentally ill, so the deck is SUPREMELY stacked against her.
and then it kind of...spiraled. I ended up starting it because the idea wouldn't let me go but I actually had no idea where I was going with it?? and have been figuring it out over the course of writing it dgfdfsg and it has Evolved but it's still that basic premise - Ellen trying to save people but also wanting to save herself. also it is very much Ellen whump fic. and extremely messy sort of slow burn throuple fic.
and Greta the Cat is there, constantly, because I will take any opportunity to include her in fic.
originally I meant for it to be a mid-length one shot fic but then my brain went said no, we must dive deep into the plot! lots of interaction! lots of exploration and character study! chew on all those dynamics! also let Ellen go apeshit at least once! so yeah it is now over 32k words long and still growing. I do finally have an ending tho!
(also my tag came from my spouse making a joke about the movie's title and I found it absurdly amusing)
In the spirit of the question game name, worst and best kind of alcoholic drink.
WORST: vanilla spiced dark rum (worst hangover of my life), sparkling rosé (similarly bad experience), and beyond that it’s like. specific beefs with breweries that try to do unionbusting
BEST: i am deeply fond of my oban 14yr scotch. i’m also rly feeling a gin-based cocktail at the moment, like a greyhound with a sprig of fresh rosemary. my “could get this anywhere & impossible to fuck it up” drink order is a g&t
Might I inquire about the mermaid AU you’ve been working on? I’ve been curious about the premise for that.
absolutely! sdfdas thank you for asking! it's still in the early stages but basically it's a fantasy/horror AU with a few elements of The Little Mermaid.
Ellen is a mermaid fascinated with humans and life on land and ends up seeing Thomas on a ship and gets curious, but there's something else that really sends her to the surface - a voice from the dark, dark depths that calls to her but scares her.
there's might be another fairy tale or mythical being or two in the tale as well. it's only just slightly inspired by TLM tbh. Ellen still has her voice, there's no bargain with a witch (I'm operating by Splash rules, lol, where if her tail dries it becomes legs). right now I've taken a break to work on an assignment fic and time loop but I've been hopping back and forth.
