A LAUGH ESCAPES HIM. Itâs been quite a long time ever since he had a friend with whom he just committed shenanigans with. âWell, chap, it doesnât help that weâve been out on the streets since 7pm last night!â Jareth laughs as he swigs a bottle of water in order to not let the alcohol consuming from the night before win. âNow, do you know any good places for breakfast? I got quite a desire for the delectable french toast that everyone seems to love!â
Newton hadnât thought he still had it in him, late nights. Or drunkenness. It did give him a certain feeling of power to have been able to pull that off. He and Jareth were close these days. Newton would have to watch that sense of power. He knew he would take it too far were he not to tamp it down. Left too long, itâd need a fire blanket. That had been an excitement of a night. Fun, even. Newton had laughed, and smiled, widely. Heâd drunk himself daft and thanked everything he could that he was incapable of having a hangover. Jareth might be having one. Heâd offer him painkillers but he looked getting on well enough on his own. Another bottle of water, perhaps. He passed one to Jarethâs hand. He nearly missed. Newton was loopy. He hadnât expected this of himself, but he was enjoying it.
Breakfast, that was not a typical Newton activity. He didnât know. Perhaps the cafĂ©, that would be convenient. Newton would stick to coffee, and if Jareth did want that French toast, whatever that might be, Newton would pay. He picked at a small stained part of his jacket, spilt beer probably. Heâd toss that into the laundry and wear something else to the cafĂ©. He spoke as he walked away, headed for the wardrobe. âYes, I do believe I do know of somewhere. Itâs a short walk around the corner, very short.â He couldnât find the right jacket. Heâd have to change his suit entirely. Or, quite unlike himself, Newton might dress down. Olive slacks and a T-shirt would do all that would be necessary.
