Her breath hitched as he took hold of her wrist, her amber gaze catching his obsidian with a questioning stare. It melted away as he stilled her hand against his cheek, and Riza let herself settle a bit, opting to now let her fingertips lightly brush along the skin near his eye. Those eyes... Those intense, dark eyes she loved so much...
Her body stilled entirely as he worked to shift himself, watching carefully for any hint that perhaps this was a bad idea or he had moved himself to much or too awkwardly. Luckily for them he managed, and the moment his head settled between her breasts, Riza released a breath she hadn't even realized she had been holding. With him carefully settled atop her, she felt an immediate sense of... calm. The nerves of the day immediately dissipated.
One of her arms carefully slipped around his shoulders, taking care not to hold him too tightly or apply too much pressure. The other gently drape over his back, her fingers burying into her raven hair to gently stroke her fingertips against his scalp.
It was a miracle they were here together. Riza knew how close he was to death, if not from bleeding out, but from being found by any of the Central soldiers looking for him. At least they were safe here. Of course she knew it wasn't a complete guarantee they wouldn't be found, but it was still the safest place they could be until they could make their escape.
His words drew a soft chuckle from her lips, gently shaking her head lightly before she allowed her chin to gently rest atop his head. Her heart beat was a soft, steady rhythm now that she had begun to settle down, thanks to his presence and his grounding.
"I'll go back to watch in due time... I couldn't keep staring into the darkness... Black Hayate has taken position at the door. I have full confidence he will alert if something is amiss. As for this risk... We threw caution to the wind a months ago, did we not? I choose that risk back then... I'm not changing my mind now."
She reassured him as her fingers continued their soft, gentle paths allowing her nails to lightly graze against the back of his head. Her eyes fell shut, her breathing slow and even as she let his presence and his weight banish the feelings of dread and anxiety that had been fighting to consume her, leaving only warmth and peace. Feeling his face bury deeper into her chest, she allowed her arms to wrap the slightly be tighter around him. The silence enveloped them like she enveloped him, their safe haven, as they simply laid there. As his voice broke through though, Riza's eyes cracked opened, glistening almost immediately as her eyes wavered with tears.
Her voice trembled, her hand gently tightening in his hair for a brief moment before her fingers returned to their previous motion. Those two words... I'm here... They practically overwhelmed her with emotion, pulling out the deep sense of relief she felt knowing that along with the gut wrenching fear that he had been lost to her forever where they crashed together. She fought the tears back, at least for now.
"And it's impossible for me to ever express to you just how relieved I am that you are here..."
