I must confess: I would friggin' love to see more of Kyssa's inadequacies as a druid come out in RP and writing. It's easy for me to forget that she's really new to druidism. I'm so curious to see where her lack of training gets her into trouble.
It already shows in how I play her, but itâs never really had attention called to it because sheâs only been around better druids in passing since I started RPing her.Â
For one, she canât heal. At all. But itâs more than that. She lacks the strength to pour the energies she wields outside herself to any significant degree. Now, I have bent this on a few occasions for the purposes of a greater story she ended up pulled into. BUT, the gist of it is, she just⌠canât. Doesnât work! More training required!
For two, sheâs too⌠squishy in her animal forms. At least according to my headcanon (and game mechanics? kinda?), powerful druids could toughen their animal skin, enabling them to shrug off blows that would have caused extensive damage to their bodies. Kyssa canât do that. Not really.
For three, sheâs definitely not powerful enough to enter the Emerald Dream. She wouldnât even be close, even before Nordrassilâs destruction. Her connection to the druidic magics just isnât strong enough.
What she does have going for her is that sheâs spent considerable amounts of time in her animal forms. She knows them well, and in some ways sheâs almost addicted to how it feels. (Having a rich world of scent open to you is really something.)Â
Sheâs also just got a natural aptitude for it. Put those two things together with her unrelenting determination and stubborn disposition⌠and well, youâve got a recipe for seeming far more competent than you actually are. At least to an untrained eye.
Buuuuut any druid worth their salt would be able to tell.
So once Kelridor shows up, I can guarantee you a lot of this is going to show.
