Him: Oh, no, most people couldn't handle it, it's a very complex machine.

Me: So you're calling it a machine now, is that it.

Him: mmm, yeah, yeah, it's complex anyway.

Me: what is it, a combination lock?

Him: welllll.... It IS hard to grasp.

But it reaches a point where the laughter stops.

His parents gave him his name. It's one of the last pieces of their legacy he has left. Especially since Dick moves from city to city a lot (usually because of destroyed Titans Towers or apartments), so he doesn't have many family heirlooms left.

Even his identity as Robin—born from his circus colours and mother’s name for him—was taken from him. Warped to fit each new successor. Not that Dick harbours ill-will against his brothers (they were children after all), but frustration builds.

Do you think he'll ever snap?

Just straight-faced, thin-lipped, stone-walled stare as he tells them WHY it's hurtful.

“And what exactly is funny about my name, huh? It may be old-fashioned, but it's mine. My parents chose Dick because they loved it. So every time you mock it, you're mocking them.”
