i just rewatched this movie so strap in
favorite thing about them: he has such a devastating little balance of hope and acceptance in him that is just in conflict for the whole movie. there's a little thing in the beginning when we first meet joi where he offers her a drink, and then pours two glasses, and then drinks them both. (he also listens to her talk about her new recipe and chats with her about it, but makes his own food b/c hers is holographic.) and i think it shows that balance so perfectly where he has a set of "i would like things to be this way" and a set of "i know that they are this way" that just keeps coming up for him. he holds onto this hope that he really is born, that he really does have a mother, while at the same time he denies joi poking him about it and he seems so afraid of it because good things don't happen to him in real life. and when he finds out the memory of the horse is real and he screams about it ..... he's been denying himself the hope this whole time but maybe he doesn't have to and it's so terrifying because he Always has to..... anyways
least favorite thing about them: i'm all for freedom of choice and self-actualization and whatever but why did it have to be Joe. any name in the world and you picked joe.
favorite line: probably when he first confronts Deckard and he's all tough asking "What was her name? The mother of your child?" and then his voice softens a little and he asks "What was she like?" (who he's supposed to be and then what he really wants to know...ugh). also honorable mention to "Are you telling me no?" "I wasn't aware that was an option, madam."
brOTP: i said him for court so i think i have to say court for him. but also he and ana should be siblings i think they're cute.
OTP: i don't really ship him with anyone but my first thought was driver...let me come back to this
nOTP: again i can't think of anything specific
random headcanon: i think this is kind of canon but i think he forgets that he is a person in the world who can be interacted with and thus is completely oblivious to flirtation bc he doesn't even register that that's possible. like there's a depersonalization there that i think goes even beyond the whole replicant thing
unpopular opinion: i have no sense of what's popular in this particular area. i think he should be More involved in the rgcu put my boy in situations. now i'm thinking about how grace and rocky would interact with him and it's making me happy
