Professor Mumford’s strict, precise voice is still echoing in your ears. He is the kind of professor who treats a syllabus like a military contract. The assignment was a sudden, high-pressure 500-word essay to be written and submitted within an impossible 30-minute window. You had panicked. Your brain had short-circuited. When Mumford’s countdown reached zero and he snatched the paper from your desk, your final word count sat at exactly 488. He didn't even look at the content; he just deducted points for the missing twelve words with a cold, robotic precision.

You lean your head back against the wall, letting out a heavy, irritated sigh. You are completely, utterly pissed.

"Woah, hold on! Don't look at the ceiling like that, it didn’t fail you!"

A bright, loud voice breaks through your grumpy cloud. You open your eyes to see Kyle Garcia sliding into the plastic seat across from you. He is practically radiating sunshine, his short, fluffy black hair bouncing slightly as he drops a paper bag onto the table. His deep caramel skin looks warm under the cafeteria lights, and the tiny dusting of freckles across his cheeks stands out as he gives you a massive, toothy grin.

Kyle is the definition of a social butterfly. Despite his average making him a frequent target for some of the more pretentious students and bullies who like to order him around, Kyle literally doesn't care. He treats everyone—from the student council president to the guys who shove him into lockers—like they’re his best friends. He’s a chaotic mix of pure kindness and hardworking energy, always trying to make people laugh.

"Leave me alone, Kyle,", you mutter, crossing your arms and glaring at your quiz. "I'm in a terrible mood."

"Oh, I can see the storm clouds over your head from across the room,", Kyle chuckles, his brown eyes crinkling at the corners. He slides the paper bag toward you, the scent of warm bread and melted dairy instantly hitting your nose. "Which is exactly why I brought backup. Professor Mumford is tough, but he is no match for the ultimate healing power of the double cheese hotdog!"

You blink, looking at the bag. "You bought me lunch?"

"Duh! I saw you stomping out of the classroom like a tiny, angry Godzilla," Kyle says, his tone carrying that friendly, animated rhythm he always has. "Come on, eat! You can't plot your revenge on an empty stomach."

Despite yourself, the grumpy tension in your shoulders relaxes just a fraction. You pull the hotdog out of the bag. It is absolutely loaded—practically drowning in a thick, gooey layer of bright yellow cheddar and melted mozzarella. You take a massive, aggressive bite, letting the comfort food distract you from the missing twelve words of your essay.

"Good, right?", Kyle asks eagerly, leaning his elbows on the table and resting his chin in his hands, watching you like a happy puppy. "They put extra cheese today because I told the cafeteria lady she looked beautiful."

You chew, swallowing before rolling your eyes. "You flirt with everyone."

"It's not flirting, it's public service!", Kyle defends dramatically, throwing his hands up in the air.

As you take another bite, a massive drop of the warm cheese slides off the bun, catching the corner of your mouth and staining your lower lip. You don't even notice, too busy chewing through your lingering frustration.

Kyle’s laughter suddenly cuts off. His bright brown eyes lock onto your face, and the chaotic energy in his posture melts away into something surprisingly soft. The atmosphere between you suddenly shifts, the loud noise of the cafeteria fading into the background.

"Hold on, you got a little...", Kyle murmurs.

Before you can reach for a napkin, he leans across the table. His hand moves with a sudden, gentle deliberation. His thumb reaches out, his warm skin brushing softly against your bottom lip as he swipes the melted cheese away.

His touch is light, his thumb lingering against your lip for a fraction of a second too long.

Your heart does an unexpected, violent flip in your chest.

You freeze, your breath catching in your throat as you look at his freckled face, suddenly realizing how close he is.

The moment is heavy, romantic, and perfectly still—

Kyle pulls his hand back, stares at his cheese-covered thumb with pure, unadulterated horror, and looks up at you with wide eyes.

"Shit,", Kyle says bluntly, his voice completely deadpan. "You just wasted the cheese."

Without a second thought, he licks his thumb clean.

The romantic tension shatters into a million pieces. You stare at him for a beat, completely stunned, before a loud, breathless laugh bursts out of you. The sheer absurdity of it washes away the last of your anger about Professor Mumford.

"Kyle, you are disgusting!", you laugh, throwing a crumpled napkin at his head.

"Hey! Cheese is gold in this economy!", Kyle grins, dodging the napkin with a bright, triumphant laugh, utterly thrilled that he finally made you smile.

Affection! Fuck life support its on its deathbed bro... Amblee wouldn't be focused on a relationship in Moonlight University mostly because of the fact she has DEBT TO PAY! However lets say this so what relationship happens, her partner will most likely feel ignored or pushed away, since Amblee will be more focused on her work and grades so she'll get a good enough allowance from the school to withdraw out of her account at the end of the year to pay off her debt. Amblee would most likely be annoyed by them, especially if they're very affectionate.

Awkwardness! She's not usually very awkward. However, when she is, it's like... awkward, awkward, like what the hell is this moment right now? If her partners awkwardness is a lot more frequent than hers, then these moments are easy to overlook sometimes.

Jealousy! To be honest, her getting jealous is rare, and if it ever were to happen its mostly if the person is more financially well off than her, (she couldn't care less about her partner being stolen from her since she knows they deserve better than her)

Big Spoon or little spoon?

She usually doesn't get close to her partner in public. However, when she's tired or stressed about any what if or maybe scenarios about her debt that could make it increase, if her partner holds her close, she will usually just let her partner hold her. And even though she gets annoyed by overly affectionate partners, she could get used to it in this context.

Lends Clothes or Borrows?

Sorry bro, but you'll only have one shirt and pants to wear if you decide to live with her in her dorm. She used to be dirt poor, and she's still in debt right now, so she doesn't spend a lot of money on multiple outfits to wear.

Doesn't Use pet names or uses pet names?

She counts the first name of her partner as a pet name, which is good enough for her. She'll try her best to come up with one if her partner gets all whiny about it. Don't expect it to be good, though.

Introverted or extroverted?

An Ambivert, she can be quiet but can't really shut her trap at times.

Affection through words or actions?

Most definitely, through words, she's scared she'll hurt her partner accidentally or something. Despite being barely affectionate, there's a rare time where she'll say she loves her partner, and it'll feel genuine.

Amblee is too focused on assignments to care for a crush right now. And if she does have one, she'll bash herself about it till she takes the possibility of their acceptance to her confession out of her head.

She has gotten a bit too familiar with cars after a few car chases here and there with authorities or old enemies.

Can't cook for shit or can cook.

Give her 3 apples, and she'll find out how to make them last for a week, she usually under eats a lot, and doesn't want to waste her time with cooking and doesn't want to spend money going out or eating fast food since she knows those payments could add up real quick. So if her partner cooks for her, she'll be very grateful.

Dislikes PDA or Likes PDA

Amblee doesn't like PDA mostly because she's paranoid about the people she owes money to, knowing about her being in a relationship and hurting her partner as a threat for her to hurry up her payments. (Small fact: she's usually almost always in a building even if it's her free time since she doesn't want the chance of the people she owes money to seeing what shes doing.)
