The apartment door slid open with a faint hiss and Yayoi stepped through, dragging her luggage in behind her. As the door shut quietly, she stood still for a moment, eyes adjusting to the faint light streaming through the holographic window in the living room. The house was silent, only the faint whir of the air-conditioning filling the space.

She exhaled lightly, then tugged off her shoes before moving her bags to a corner of the room and draping her jacket on top of them. Across her, the digital clock on the wall blinked 02:17. She’d reached over 5 hours late.

After emptying her pockets onto the table, Yayoi slipped noiselessly into their bedroom; the act pure muscle memory from her years as an Enforcer. The light peeking through the gap in the curtains revealed a riotous mass of blonde curls spread over a pillow, the owner buried under the covers.

Yayoi breathed out a fond laugh at the sight, then moved to grab the nearest set of clothes in the closet. The fabric felt light and silky under her fingertips, almost certainly belonging to Shion. She took them anyway. Shion wouldn’t mind.

With one last glance towards the bed, she headed for the bathroom so that she could shower and then join her love.

Steam wafted through the air as she stepped back out, hair slightly damp and clinging to her shoulders. The mass of covers on the bed shifted, a soft yawn escaping from it.

“Yayoi?” Shion’s voice drifted out, throaty and hoarse.

Switching off the lights, Yayoi padded over to Shion’s side. “I’m back,” she replied quietly.

A hand reached out and groped for her. Yayoi gently caught it with her own and bent to tuck some of the wayward strands of hair plastered to Shion’s face.

“Missed you, darling,” Shion mumbled, blinking blearily at Yayoi, then tugged her hand. “Mmm, come here.”

Yayoi went willingly, letting herself be pulled down to press their lips together. They kissed lazily; mouths sliding against each other sticky-sweet and taffy-soft till they were simply breathing in the same air.

“My back can’t take this much longer,” Yayoi whispered against Shion’s lips.

Shion huffed a laugh at that and tossed her head back onto the pillow. Yayoi’s lips quirked into a small grin.

“Then come to bed, darling,” her heart murmured, eyes soft and fond. “Don’t keep me waiting.”
