However, Beca can be... frustrating - and that is probably putting it as PG as she can. Beca does so many things for Chloe everyday.  Nice things, thoughtful things.  She loves making sure that Chloe has her favourite shampoo which has to be specially ordered and can’t be purchased at the local bodega or shopping mall.  She takes extended lunch breaks at least once a week so that they can have a standing lunch date - usually on Chloe’s toughest days.  Leaving early on Friday’s to make sure that she can catch an Uber to the Vet Clinic and surprise Chloe with an after work week treat (sometimes ice-cream with different mix-ins, sometimes an absolutely loaded sugary pastry, or a bouquet of flowers) and they go for a mini-date walk through central park to relax.

Beca just does so many little things to make Chloe’s days lighter and brighter.  It gives her warm fuzzy feelings to see her girlfriend so completely relaxed and open with her after all these years.  She also definitely returns the favour as much as possible.  Making sure Beca knows just how much she loves her, how special she is (and also how sexy Chloe finds her daily).

But.

There is also the side of Beca where she tends to lean towards slightly petulant.  One might even say she’s a bratty bitch grump.  

It’s not often that it occurs (at least not often outside of sex anyway - that’s one area where Chloe actually prefers her to behave like that), but when it happens, Chloe tends to cycle back to those Barden days of sharing a house with 9 other girls and just how overwhelming it can be.  How easy it was to be annoyed with each other and snap.  Usually it’s not even over anything big, but they are both passionate in their own ways and that causes the occasional clash in those moments.

So when it comes time for Chloe to use the bathroom in the morning to get ready for work after Beca (like normal) and for the 45,000th time the sink is a complete mess and the mirror is again covered in toothpaste from it flicking out when Beca brushes her teeth (she’s still not 100% sure how that happens to be honest), she feels that snap getting closer and closer. Beca’s excuse (as always) is that she’s running late and doesn’t have time to clean up.  Chloe points out as normal that “if she got up 15 mins earlier it wouldn’t be an issue” because they both know that Beca could do it, but she chooses her precious sleep instead of helping.  The bathroom is the one area of the house that Beca treats like trash, surprisingly she is organised and neat in every other room including the kitchen.  (Chloe always remembers the day she found out that Beca could actually make a proper meal, she nearly passed out because her girlfriend basically lives on coffee and takeout). Chloe yells out to Beca before she leaves, “Babe I don’t want to tell you again, please clean the mirror once you’re done because it’s disgusting.  It’ll take you two seconds to wipe it down.”

She can hear Beca grabbing her bag and keys before heading to the front door to leave for work when she responds, “Well if it only takes two seconds then it can’t be that dirty!”

It’s not a fight.  It’s a minor disagreement.

The next morning Chloe goes into the bathroom and finds that there a no flecks of toothpaste on the mirror.  Instead Beca has chosen to write “BETTER?” in toothpaste all over the mirror.

It’s not a fight though.  Chloe instead decides to play back and write as well.   When Beca goes to use the bathroom that night to brush her teeth before bed, the entire mirror is covered in toothpaste and Chloe has written “Yes thank you dear” in the middle, leaving almost no clean spots at all.
