The one prompt post you liked before you sent me this was the OTP Angst, so Iâm assuming this is what you want: âI know you wonât forgive me, but Iâm still sorry.âÂ
Krenth is swearing fluently and forcefully in Huttese behind the locked door: âCheeskar nok, tooska chai mani, caba dee unko, Corso Riggs-â
He canât really tell her anything while sheâs yelling, so he just keys the door open. She stumbles forward against his chest, her hand still raised to bang on the door, then jerks back. Heâs ready for her to start screaming again, possibly in a language he understands. Heâs not expecting her to haul off and punch him straight in the jaw. âNine hells, Captain,â he curses in surprise, stumbling back against the corridor wall with a hand to his face.
âTake. Me. Back.â Sheâs tiny, bloodied, and clutching her hand to her chest, but his captainâs anger is like a supernova as she snarls at him. He wants to apologize immediately, automatically, but at the moment he thinks itâd just earn him another punch.
âWeâre past the defense stations and into hyperspace already,â he tells her. âWithout a new set of clearance codes, we wonât make it in.â
Krenth hisses in reply. Corso lowers his hand and raises his chin; if she wants to use him for sparring practice, at least itâs a way to make her feel a little better about this awful situation. Instead she puts her back to the doorframe and slowly slides down until sheâs on the floor with her head in her hands. âMy sister,â she whispers, and then louder, a sob: âMy sister, Corso!â
âI know,â he says softly. He moves carefully, giving her time to push him away as he sits down beside her.
âYou know - how many years -â
âI know,â he says again. âI know how many years you thought she was gone. I know neither of us thought sheâd show up on some Sith planet, let alone one we were tryinâ to steal somethinâ off.â Krenth sobs again, her hand pressed against her mouth. âAnd I know she ordered me to get you out of there before we all got killed.â
âSince when do you follow somebodyâs orders other than mine?â Her voice breaks on the last word, and he can hear her asking âSince when are you somebody elseâs other than mine?â
Corso reaches out slowly to take Krenthâs injured hand in his. âI know you wonât forgive me, but Iâm still sorry. When you took me on, I swore I wouldnât touch you unless you wanted me to.â
âYou think -â She hiccups out another little sob. âYou think Iâm angry âcause you picked me up and carried me out of there? Iâm angry âcause you forced me tâ leave her there tâ die!â
âCaptain...â He shakes his head, stroking his thumb over her bleeding knuckles. âIf sheâs half as tricky as you are, sheâll come out of it on top, whether thatâs fightinâ her way out or tellinâ âem sheâs the reason we lit out without takinâ anythinâ with us. Let me take you down to the med-bay and get you patched up.â
âIâll forgive you, Corso,â Krenth says softly as she takes her hand from his. âBut not today.â
