ENNIE Awards 2026 I ended up spending way too much time just looking at the nominated RPG books as a visual artist 👀
GIRL FRAME - strong cyberpunk vibe, feels like concept art for a Netflix animated series. I genuinely want to see more of this world.
Trash to Treasure - just… cute. That’s it, that’s the note. Soft, simple, pleasant.
Tacklebox - looks like children’s illustration in the best possible way. Feels intentional, almost nostalgic in its simplicity.
Draconis - the dragons are absolutely charming, and the characters hit that 2010s fantasy nostalgia for me in a very specific way.
The Crooked Moon - I got stuck here for a long time. Dense atmosphere, dark magic, mystery everywhere. The kind of book you don’t just look at once.
Mappa Mundi / Book of Spirits / Crooked Moon - my favorites in terms of covers. Mappa Mundi especially feels like an invitation to go on an adventure. There’s something fresh and alive in its design.
Floral Dragons - incredibly beautiful miniatures. Feels like art made to be painted, not just displayed.
Legend in the Mist - very strong comic + anime influence. Expressive characters, great page design, overall very cohesive visual language. Reminded me a bit of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Crescent 2e - light, playful, slightly naive visual tone in the best sense. It immediately feels like “let’s go play”.
Dungeons & Kittens - it’s literally cats. Bright, fun, visually delicious. I would 100% pick this up just for the art.
Daggerheart / Coriolis / Starfinder Alien Core / Warhammer - this is where you clearly see industry-level polish. Strong art direction, consistent quality, very professional execution.
Wrath of Kaiju - absolute “take my money” energy. I could look at these creature designs forever.
Terra Antarctica - clean, expensive-looking, confident design. No notes.
What stood out overall is how diverse the visual language is from very sketh, personal illustration styles to highly polished AAA-level art direction. And honestly, it feels like there’s space for everything right now in TTRPG art.
Curious what everyone else gravitated toward 👀 https://www.reddit.com/r/rpg/comments/1umfifh/2026_ennie_award_nominees/?solution=cc05a9b0fc0f4173cc05a9b0fc0f4173&js_challenge=1&token=7afd7253fec22262ff1c52b1703fe9ec6eeb021e432d2dd2ed549a36c5d117f2&jsc_orig_r=
