Just in case I gave you the wrong impression, what I meant was that the way antis argue about fujoshis is the queerphobic bit, because they’re attacking the Yuri community, which is made up predominantly of LGBTQ+ women and frequently explores queer themes in the work created in that genre.

I’m sorry that you’ve been misled by misinformation and bad science, but none of that is true. And what’s worse, you’re using that ignorance to justify your bigotry and hatred of trans women. I mean, how else can I describe a human being that willingly calls other human beings a parasite?

Now, let’s talk about some of the real facts!

First, biological sex is a social construct meant to sort people based on their genitals alone. Yes, I know that people like you usually fall back to sex chromosomes when your definition of genitalia-based humans falls apart, but it’s never been about sex chromosomes.

At best that’s been a weak and oversimplified model that was fed to kids as part of biology curriculum. It’s possible that it was valid scientifically many decades ago, but it definitely isn’t now.

It doesn’t take long to find a biologist talking about how faulty the XX/XY model is, because it just doesn’t describe human sex differentiation.

Second, and this might be my favorite, science actually does affirm gender as being both innate and biological, and it’s the research into trans people that’s getting us there!

Specifically, the research being done into gender suggests that we are born with gender encoded as microstructures in the brain that can only be built and modified during specific critical periods of development in the womb. In one of these critical periods, the brain of the fetus will change when exposed to certain hormones.

Plus, and I love this part, research that’s entirely independent of trans people has started to confirm this hypothesis. Here’s a video from Bridget Nugent, a researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, who’s researching the process by which brains undergo sex differentiation:

Finally, and most important for me personally, I’m not heterosexual. I mean, you couldn’t even read my blog correctly and my bisexuality is right there on the header.

How do you expect people to take you seriously when you are ignorant of actual science and clearly don’t actually bother learning anything about the person you’re trying to attack?

In the end, I just want to point out again, for anyone that didn’t hear me the first time:

Trans women are biologically female. We’re examples of atypical female women. Yes, that means there are women born with penises. Yes, that really pisses off TERFy types like the person who wrote me this message.

From what I’ve read of similar situations, much like the rising problem with exclusionists and to a lesser extent TERFs, this kind of behavior has also gotten a lot worse over the last two years.

Which, go figure. In the US we have Trump to worry about. Brazil elected Bolsonaro. Authoritarianism is currently surging and we’re having to deal with these problems in a way that older generations haven’t, not since WWII and isolated flare ups that have occasionally hit some countries.

I feel like anti-shippers are just another example of that. Everyone is afraid right now and being afraid tends to make authoritarians become really really aggressive, since they don’t have the capacity to deal with fear in the same way that emotionally mature adults do.

If you take a look at that thread you’ll see that her response wasn’t nearly as aggressive as any of the other antis in that thread, so it’s my hope that she’s beginning to feel that little bit of doubt that tells you when you’ve been mislead into believing something shitty.

It’s my hope that, since she’s a minor, she’s still working some of this stuff out and is an anti because she’s been following some toxic people. If we can help her see the way that antis weaponize false accusations of pedophilia, the way that the anti community has been grooming behaviors that are a direct threat to minors, and all of the rest of their harm, she’ll break away.

Because honestly? The few times I’ve seen her talk about biphobia or the importance of inclusion I’ve been impressed. I’d like to see those powers used wholly for good.

I know that you’re on anon and aren’t game to provide evidence, but I’ll just say that this is not the first time I’ve heard of behavior like this. Other people more active in dealing with antis than I am have long documented this kind of thing.

Yeah, I don’t really think they understand that, in building the hierarchical social structure that they need to feel safe, they’re actually encouraging children to go see out content that they shouldn’t be.

It’s a really weird kind of indoctrination because it’s basically setting the stage for those kids to be groomed by predators. Instead of helping them learn, I don’t know, actual ethics and reasoning? The ability to recognize when someone is trying to manipulate or mislead them? By teaching younger antis to embrace bigotry and groupthink, they’re creating a community for young people that actively makes it harder for young people to recognize danger.

I place a high value on critical thinking skills and it’s one of the reasons I spend most of my effort on debunking shitty ideas, even if I’ve been slacking off on that for the last couple of weeks. I believe that even someone new to a topic is better armed if they know the kinds of strategies people will use to mislead them. I want people to question things. I want them to be skeptical of what they’re told and to be able to ask questions and investigate evidence.

So yeah, there’s a reason they’re pretty high on my shit list and it’s because of the danger they present to children.

Hi everyone! Here's another example of an exclusionist being terrible.

Presented with evidence that asexual people have been part of the LGBTQ+ community from the beginning, @turbo-asexual can’t even muster a basic argument.

At this point, they can't even disagree with me or present their own position anymore, they just use this as an opportunity to repeat the same aphobic lies they've been repeating the entire time.

Remember:

Aphobia isn't misdirected misogyny. It's a real problem all on it's own and the only reason exclusionists describe it as misdirected misogyny is to invalidate the experiences of asexual and aromantic people.

Aces and aros are clearly and obviously a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Exclusionists are absolutely authoritarians, just like conservatives. Even the ones that make a token attempt to claim that asexuality and aromanticism is real still argue that aces and aros don't face any oppression and aren't a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

And finally, perhaps most importantly, exclusionist ideology is inherently rape apologist. I get the feeling a lot of exclusionists intentionally ignore this because it’s really uncomfortable to realize that you’ve been defending rape apologism. But the logic doesn’t lie.

And yeah, claiming that aphobia is misdirected misogyny is part of that cycle.
