Honestly, sometimes I feel called out by my Spotify daylist
Jet black diamonds, LPS, mrfy, keni nije mrtav (I know they are Serbian), kokosy and basically half of the joker out discography
That's it, that's the whole playlist
Link for the playlist, because I copied it lmao
sočni silvo
Opinion on MRFY
(And KOKOSY, LPS, KOALA VOICE, etc (the 'new wave' of Slovenian music))?
I'm listening to them rn (in-between Siddharta and JO lmao) and was just curious
I actually don't really listen to the "new wave" of Slovenian rock all that much besides Joker Out! I have a lot of friends who are into LPS and Kokosy and Jet Black Diamonds but they don't really resonate with me. And MRFY is cool, but our vibes just aren't aligned- not that he gives off bad vibes or anything, but just that his music doesn't resonate with me for whatever reason.
I'm a fan of Siddharta (the "old wave" of Slovenian rock) but beyond that, I'm a pop girlie: I like Raiven, Eva Boto (Slovenia Eurovision 2012) and Zan Sercic (not a girlie but, ya know, I can be a pop girlie while listening to him). I do also sometimes have google autoplay whatever is on V Petek Zvecer and discover some great slovenian songs by lesser-known artists that I like having on my playlist.
With that said: Slovenians are incredibly talented musicians. I never knew what live music was all about until I heard Slovenian singers and bands perform live (Joker Out, Siddharta) and there's a special kind of magic to it. (aka what kind of crack do they put into Slovenian music, really?) Even just walking down the street in Ljubljana, you encounter an absolutely phenomenal brass band of like 10 people putting on a whole show! How does a country his small produce so much musical talent? And how does it get so overlooked on the world stage and even on the greater Balkan stage? It's a fucking crime.
Sorry, that was maybe more than you asked for but I will never turn down the opportunity to wax poetic about Slovenian music.

Papierosy
Czasem śmierdzą od nich włosy
Szkoda, że nie są jak kokosy
Ale w odróżnieniu od nich
Potrafią dać mi dosyt
