#kodee

This is a short story inspired by @staxurst with her drawing of adult AJ. She helped me edit this and made it so much better. She is an amazing person and I adore her work and her kindness.

It was a calm day in a quiet little town, things appeared to be peaceful. The birds sang and the sun shining warmly. That is until a truck sped past the neighborhood, stirring up dust and stones, speeding down the road. The side of the truck read, “McWilliams Homestead Rehab and Rescue”. Driving, was the young woman named Kodee, who owned the facility, helping creatures and beings of all kinds. She and two others were heading to a burning abandoned house, where they had gotten a report of a neighborhood mother cat and her new litter were trapped inside. The fire burned brightly and abandoned home was slowly burning down bit by bit. The local firefighters trying their best to put out the flames before it spread to other homes and neighboring yards.

The truck pulled in and barely came to a halt before out jumped Miss Kodee, her eyes wide with fear for the feline family within the structure. The fire Chief on duty quickly sped walked to her and her group.

“Stay back folks! This fire is getting out of control.”

Kodee looked at him with a kind smile, “Thank you sir, but there are animals inside I need to save.” As he was about to argue, a anthro dragon walked over and he pats her shoulder.

“Sir, she has the ability to change into a fire creature and go in there with no issue. Please let us do our job to save those lives before the fire takes them”. The Chief looked between Kodee and the dragon, he sighs and nods.

“You got ten minutes miss.”

She nods as she thinks him, while her comrades got a cage and water ready for the animals that they hoped she could rescue. She took off all her clothing right then and there, her body slowly transforming into a pure black cat with fire flickering on her fur, becoming a demon fire cat. Running swiftly into the building, Kodee searched for the Momma and her babies.

After what seemed like a long five minutes, she found what she was hoping to not find. The mother cat, a dark brown tabby, was trapped under a beam with her spine broken, causing her to yowl and scream. Her litter of 5 was sadly now only one, a single baby had survived the smoke and heat. The momma cat looked at Kodee, panting in the heat. Moving her front leg to reveal her only remaining baby. A tiny chocolate brown tabby with a white belly and one little sock on her right front paw. She appeared to be the runt of the litter and by a miracle had somehow survived. Kodee gently picked up the baby, nodding her head to the mother before she took her final breath.

Kodee wasted no time running through the flames and smoke, the floor collapsing around her as she ran with all her might. She managed to leap out just as the whole structure collapsed behind her. Panting heavily as she looked up at her comrades. She quickly transformed into a winged wolf and held the kitten firmly in her jaws.

“I have to get to AJ! Meet me there as fast as you can!” She ran, opening her wings wide, with three flaps she was in the air. “Please, please be there!”

Meanwhile, at a vet clinic, a motorcycle roared up and parks in the back. Removing his helmet revealed a grown AJ, a triumphant smile upon his face. He just left a rally to take a little boy home to his mother after being rescued from his abusive father. “Man what a day!”

He walked and got himself some coffee with creamer and a large amount of sugar. “Things all good here miss Iris?” He asked the receptionist as he picked up a folder with files on a few pets that were kept overnight.

She smiles up at Aj with a nod. “Yes sir, all good here. How was the rally?” AJ smiled happily after he took a drink of his coffee.

“It was great! Warms my soul to see a child happy again.” Suddenly his personal phone rang and he picks up. “AJ speaking, how may I help you?”

“AJ! It’s me Kullvero! Kodee is heading your way with a kitten in dire need!” The voice spoke in a rushed tone due to the urgency. Setting the files and coffee cup down, he immediately grabbed his emergency bag for the new kitten.

“Got it! I will get a room set up!” He ran down the hall to a room and got things set up for whatever he needed.

Not three minutes later, a winged wolf came charging in and set the smallest kitten Aj had ever seen on the table. Quickly, she returned to her human form, keeping her wings to cover her naked body.

“Thank god you're here! She’s burned pretty bad on her back leg and on her tail. She had also breathed in a lot of smoke and is having a hard time breathing.” AJ nodded as he got to work with miss Kodee’s help.

A few hours later, he was holding the small kitten in his massive hands. The kitten wasn't out of the woods yet but was well on the way to recovery, but still needed a lot of care before she was fully recovered. Aj was now attempting to bottle feed her as Kodee walked in with clothes on.

“Thank you for saving her AJ. Once again your the hero to my rescue.” He smiles up at her as she took a seat beside him.

“Nah, thank you Kodee, I’m glad you got her here in time.”

Kodee looks down with a sad smile. “Now I just have to find her a foster.” She commented gently.

AJ laughed softly as he looked over at her, “Don’t worry about making any calls. I’ll foster her.” Kodee jerks her head up with wide eyes.

“AJ, I can’t ask that of you. Your already fostering two dogs and four kittens so far from my rehab. I don’t want to add more to your plate.”

AJ set the kitten in his lap and hugged Kodee.

“Don’t worry ‘bout it, what’s one more to add to the family? I don’t mind at all Kodee, don’t worry.” He replied as he softly kissed her forehead reassuringly with a smile. “We are apart of a big team, we all do our part to help others. Let’s finish getting this little one fed and to bed. I will take her home when we close up.”

Kodee smiled as she nodded, watching him pick the kitten back up and finish feeding her. “What are you gonna name her?” She asked, causing Aj to smiled down at the tiny kitten in his hand.

“I think I’ll name her...Hershey kiss.” Both Kodee and him laugh softly as the little kitten was kneading his hand as she fed.

Bio: Kodee was born a human, at the age of 4 she was taken to a lab for experiments to attempt to make a super soilder or cures for diseases, basically a lab rat. She was rescued by a group of vigilantes who were shutting the organization down bit by bit. She was taken care of by the group until she was 11, where Dusk McWilliams came into her universe/world and took her in as her own child.

At the age of 15 it was discovered she could shape shift into any creature she desired after one touch. This was during a trip to a museum where she touched a UtahRaptor claw and she started to change into said creature. From then on she has gained many, many forms.

At the age of 16 her split personality come through to reveal herself as Luna. She was much more confident in her body and was protective of her other half and family. When a fight was incoming she would take over and kick some tail. She knows several forms of fighting including boxing and Ninjutsu. She is much stronger then she looks even when Kodee is in control.

On her 18th birthday she used her ice dragon form to save a dragon from poachers. The dragoness was gold and ocean blue in color, she vowed to stay by the young teens side forever. Said dragon could turn into an anthro or shrink/grow her size to go anywhere with Kodee.

Soon the duo were time traveling/Universe jumping with Dusk along with other children who were Dusk’s or adopted by her. Making new friends and learning new things as they travel. The household grew and now they travel or stay in a universe for a while and have many adventures.

Right now Kodee has started up her own rehab ranch called “McWilliams Homestead”. A place where healing comes in all forms and anyone or thing can get help. Even if your the scum of the earth or even a mod boss, she will help you with her therapy and once your healed you will be sent back home. She specializes in animals because thanks to her shape shifting she can turn into the same species and do her best to help them.

The ranch itself is massive, thousands of acres of land and many barns, paddocks, pastures, and houses. The ranch and it’s world is basically a pocket universe where anyone can come and heal. You just have to pass through a gate to enter this universe to visit that world and the ranch. She even takes in veterinarians in training to help assist her. She is willing to help anyone in need, she will greet you with an open heart and warm smile.

He was an Angel, until he fell. This is the art of the fall, one of my favorite things I’ve drawn. The reason for the fall is more of personal matter for me. It has to do with my thoughts on religion, how people use their religion to cover their hatred. My mom’s side is kind of religious and pretty close minded. I lost faith in religion after my mom passed away when I was still a teenager, I started seeing the flaws more clearly. And once I realized I was trans, well religion became scary.

I’ve found a better place now, I’ve been dabbling with other stuff and finding my own faith, finding where I’m accepted and proud to be myself. Kodee is my preferred name, it was a name I had originally given to my first Oc (has never been drawn) who still has a big place in my heart, and his name was a gift, it helped me become me. I’ve always made myself a type of demon character, because how much I’ve heard it was “wrong” I decided to live my truth, and if that means being seen as a demon, well so be it!

Mm... yes. The best thing about my childhood was how close me and Kodee were. It hurts to think about, honestly. I wish he still cared the same.
