If the ask box is open, could I maybe have a victorian Au With a female reader and Yamazaki. Maybe the reader is of high class and Yamazaki is of low class but they end up falling in love. Yamazaki often sneaks into her chambers to spend time with her and that sort of thing. Sorry if itâs too detailed or if youâre not taking requests right now. Love your blog! Hope youâre doing okay!
eyyy hope youâre doing good too! :D
In the beginning, Yamazaki hated you.
There was something so comfortable - so smug - in your behaviour, and it riled him up considerably. You lived a life of absolute luxury, with all the household racing to atone to your every need. (Your brother was your loyal companion but equally utterly terrifying to those under his command - none of the servants dared to disobey you for fear of his hand.) What you wanted, you received: the most exquisite dresses, the richest meats, the fastest horses. And Yamazaki despised it.
Unlike you, Yamazaki knew of his luck to have merely found a job, and he worked desperately hard to keep it. Life as a stable lad under the [L/N] family was a significant step up from the poverty heâd been born into. The familyâs keen interest in riding meant Yamazaki had had the opportunity of working with horses whose price tag he couldnât have even imagined, and, once heâd proved himself to be a strong rider, heâd even been allowed the privilege of exercising these fine steeds from time to time. Galloping across the moors freed him in ways nothing else could.
However, the two of youâs mutual adoration of riding had made it impossible for him to avoid you.
âYamazaki,â youâd called on him many a time, âbrotherâs off to do business, but he said I could go out if you accompanied me. Go saddle up two horses; be quick about it.â
âMâlady,â he nodded, leading your horse to the front of the yard - a dainty mare with the spirit of a foal but the lightness in the mouth of an experienced ride.
It was on these hacks, he found himself hating you less. A rider who respects another riderâs seat on a horse struggles to dislike them. And you rode magnificently; there was a bond between you and your mare, a loyalty forged in steel, which he had to admire. When you urged her over hedges or leant slightly forward in the saddle as she picked up a canter, Yamazaki watched how in sync you two were - it was as if there was one being galloping beside him, not two.
He adored watching you ride, and he hated himself for it.
One day, you surprised him.
âYamazaki, you know, for a stable lad, you ride him,â you gestured to the stallion he was busy sponging down, âremarkably well - better than my brother, but donât tell him I said that.â
âYouâre too kind, mâlady,â responded Yamazaki, turning towards the horse to hide the threat of a blush that was rising up his cheeks.
From then on, he found that he could hold no more hostility towards you, and those occasional rides as a pair became the highlights of his weeks. Sometimes, you would watch him ride your mare (you laughed at his hesitance, âI thought you rode better than me, Hiroshi!â), or you would spend a little longer after the ride - watching him care for the horses, offering to help in vain (âyour hands cannot be sullied, mâlady,â he sighed, with a hint of a tease in his tone). Yamazaki had spent the majority of his life working alone, yet your company grew quickly to be something he was unable not to long for.
âItâs a shame you are who you are, Hiroshi,â you commented one sundown, as the two of you trotted back to the estate through the brief section of forest on the [L/N] land, âyour background is what makes you so you, if you understand, but itâs what separates us too.â
Yamazaki coughed awkwardly, looking away, with red cheeks.
âWe can be free from all that, [Y/N], when we ride.â
apologises that this is a little different from your request but i hope i still got the gist of what you were asking for? if not, feel free to request again!
