Please accept my cutes.
Fae is the romantic. Sheâs the one thatâll get down on one knee to declare eternal love etc etc. Teyla, less so. Sheâll experience gross, big, dramatic feelings and then possessively cling to Faeâs head until sheâs told to let go.
V and Aele are the super loyal, supportive, âthere for each other no matter whatâ babies.
And Caerthys and Klivvik are my OG couple. Sweet, basically married partners.
Between trying to finish my Valentines/LS3 writing and work I decided to stick my main and most written about characters into a line up.
Left to RIght: Vrishya, Odette De Lys, Aelestri, Varyllis, Ateyla, Faerylie, Klivvik, Caerthys, Tasia Wraithrend, Ellie Blacksmith, Erebus Swiftreaper, Lyaeris, Fyianna and Phenriel.
Aha, and thatâs not even half of them all...
I've kind of invested myself in writing an origins thing for the Gang AU cuties starting with V and Aelestri since they're kind of the reason it exists in the AU. But since that's in drafts, some notes on names and aliases. - Varyllis's full name is Julieta Varyllis. She never officially took her cartel leader, drug lord husband's name because she'd rather die than be tied to him like that. She goes by V most of the time, and only responds to Juliet when it's Aelestri talking to her. The law tend to refer to her as The Queen (which amuses English Teyla). - Teyla Grey is Teyla's full name. She'll be merciful if you spell it with an 'a' but she'll wreck you if you try to argue that she's spelt it wrong. She's English. She uses the alias 'Nobody' and signs out of her cyber attacks as such. She's referred to as Lady Gray by the authorities (she spells it with an 'e' to annoy them) or Ghost. Later into her career with V she becomes known as The Queen's Protégé. - Aelestri has been going by the name for so long he rarely hears his birth name, but V almost always calls him by it in private. Michael Strider isn't as exciting but leant itself to some interesting aliases including the current. The authorities refer to him as The Thief King. - Kliv or Klivvik is one of the only names they're known by preferring it most days to their birth name, Effy Livingston. Having not been in the field and protected by the crew for years, they've never been registered by the authorities (however Quinn refers to them as Mouse before she becomes acquainted). - Fae Riley doesn't have an alias within the crew simply because she's accumulated so many pet names over the years from each crew member. V calls her everything from 'bothersome' to 'babe'. Aelestri likes to call her 'hot head'. Kliv is 'Oi you' which is reserved for Fae and Fae alone. And Teyla enjoys getting creative over comms with sugary sweet names, 'honey' takes the default space but she's shocked the others listening in a few times. The authorities call her simply 'C4' (Something Fae always responds to with 'you sunk my battleship').
I started writing this when I was real sick and never got round to finishing it until now. Ateylaâs Necromancy was always meant to go down this route (at least for now) but I also wanted self indulgent Mist GFs adorableness.
Her excuse this time had something to do with studying around her cold based Necromancy skills and it kind of stood. During their few weeks in the Far North Ateyla had improved with her Reaper form in leaps and bounds, deathly chills increasing in duration, biting sharper and colder than ever.
For some reason this also meant that sheâd travel without her thick fur cloak and would spend her late nights out in the bitter dark. Concerned, Klivvik and Caerthys had urged her to keep covered up, eat more hot food, take better care of herself. Naturally that hadnât gone down well, about as well as any other kind of parental intervention. So Faerylie had started insisting on cuddling in bed for longer in the mornings, trying to lure her under their furs earlier in the evenings and pulling the small plant close when they were out in the open. This went down much better but still wasn't enough.
Luckily one of the Pact Commanderâs guilds had decided to take care of a lot of the front line business so the Bitterfrost Frontier expedition was less exciting than Magister Grey had hoped, and just as exciting as her companions had wanted. This meant more time for killing Svanir, slaying Dragon Minions, meeting the locals and evidently training in Necromancy.
Eventually Ateylaâs well-being started concerning Faerylie and, being unsure of what to do upon noticing a couple of browned and curled petal tips one evening headed to Klivvik for their opinion.
âIâve already asked how sheâs doing,â the Magister had replied with a shrug, âI donât think weâll get anything out of her until she gets sick.â
âI think she is though, like...â Faerylie gestured broadly towards her torso and head area, âSheâs getting all wilted and stuff. I mean she hasnât exactly said she feels bad, or been coughing or anything but...she doesnât do well in the cold, does she?â
Kliv shook their head, sighing softly. Between them they shared probably the most knowledge on the Necromancer, the Magister making themselves personally acquainted with every microscopic working of the Sylvari, and the Revenant more intimately familiar with her in every aspect.
âYouâre doing fine. Better than fine, but weâve got to face facts that sheâs far more stubborn than us. Thereâs going to be very little we can say or do thatâll convince her that what sheâs doing is going to end unhappily, at least until whatever illness thatâs starting to take hold of her gets a good grip.â
It took a few weeks of the same behaviors for everything Klivvik had said would happen to start unraveling.
Ateylaâs skills were improving without a doubt, small details in the way her Reaper shroud appeared, new ways her magic was manifesting, and even a stranger couldâve noticed she was becoming more powerful with her new mastery over the cold. But the same unfamiliar eyes would have also noticed the way she slumped and stumbled at the end of her training, how sheâd taken to leaning on things in down periods.
Klivvik promised they had everything they needed to take care of her. Faerylieâs gut twisted in doubt but she did her best to put her faith in the Asura, still quietly tagging along to each and every one of Ateylaâs treks out.
Of course it came to a point one day, the bullheaded plant pushing herself beyond her own limitations, and in front of Faerylie, collapsing into a heap on switching out of her Shroud. Sheâd only been beating up dragon minions but the Revenant had seen her footsteps waver even while engulfed in magic, the new ice-like weapons she conjured from whatever plane her Shroud form allowed her to reach shattering into shards and dissolving away along with the tendrils of dark magic.Â
Faerylieâs reaction was instant, shield in one hand, rushing to grab the tiny Necromancer in the other and heave her away from where more dragon minions lurked nearby.
Trusting her instincts the Revenant had carried the unconscious Ateyla back to warmth, panicking all the way that perhaps Klivvik wasnât prepared, perhaps sheâd been too late, but on finding the Necromancerâs cot and carefully laying her out the little Asuran head peeped through into their tent, followed by arms filled with blankets.
âWeâve been through weirder and worse. Sheâll be fine.â
Still doubtful, the assurance didnât come to much even as Klivvik hauled in more furs and the pair worked to wrap up the still sleeping Sylvari.
The worst of it hit a few hours after, luckily due to the Necromancerâs weird sleep cycle, this meant noon when the most help would be at hand. Still not having woken she very rapidly deteriorated into violent shivering and a rising fever. Tired and a little disoriented from trying to stay awake, Faerylie fumbled for some blankets but Klivvik simply placed their hands a top the Revenantâs and shook their head softly.
âNo more blankets. Itâs a fever, you know how to deal with a fever?â
Shaking her head Faerylie looked worried, silently damning her lack of medical knowledge despite having traveled extensively and worked with the Vigil. Of course sheâd heard of fevers but that was in humans, Charr, Norn...not Sylvari?
At some point she mustâve voiced this thought aloud because as Klivvik took to preparing a hand basin of warm water and some cloths they began to ramble endlessly about Sylvari illness and inflammatory response, and even though Faerylie did her best to keep up and listen, it was more a comfort to just listen to the constant torrent of words.
It seemed Klivvik had intended that, pressing a damp cloth into her hand and guiding it to Ateylaâs heavily gold flushed face, helping Faerylie dab it a few times before leaving her to it.
Only a few simple instructions stuck from Klivvikâs reel of speech and Faerylie realised as she recalled them, they were the most important. Apparently Klivvik had a knack for getting through to stressed, panicking people and as she dabbed the warm water over her girlfriendâs forehead Faerylie quietly wondered if Caerthys had been in her position in their previous experiences.
Klivvik seemed to pop back every so often, just as the basin of water started to chill, replacing it and leaving the couple to their quiet. Thereâd been a few words uttered outside the tent, the Asura shooing people away, but it was otherwise almost silent as Faerylie diligently watched over her patient.
Rolling back into the night, the light outside dimming down to nothing, Faerylie lit their lanterns, checked the magic fuelled heater that kept them from freezing out in the bitterness. Luckily Ateylaâs shivering had died down and sheâd been still and sleeping for a little while when the Revenant had decided to start peeling away layers of furs until she was sufficiently covered.Â
Sheâd not been fully conscious yet, but Faerylie finally realised that she had total faith in whatever Klivvik could do and everything the Asura had said up to this point had been accurate.
Even with her head resting in her arms on the edge of the Necromancerâs cot, Faerylie found it hard to fall asleep though, glancing up every minute or so to watch the other Sylvariâs sleeping face, laying her head down again. Repeating this motion until sometimes they blurred and sometimes she wasnât sure if sheâd lifted her head at all.
And then finally snapping awake to movement, small movement, the uncovering of arms, a small groan of discomfort. She pushed herself up onto her hands, looking down at the dazed dark eyes inspecting the tent.
âHey Snowblossom,â the Revenant cooed, voice still crackly from sleep, a soft hand coming up to touch the Necromancerâs cheek, âYouâre at camp. Itâs been about a day.â
She seemed to take in this information, sighing and sinking back into her blankets, âI feel like Iâve been beaten up by a Dragon.â
âAlmost,â the Revenant replied with a warmhearted chuckle, âYou got pretty sick, and weâll be having words about your training when youâre back up and feeling better.â
âI donât...â
âBut! Now youâve got to rest. Klivvik mentioned something about stew so when youâre feeling up to food I think Tasiaâs whipped something good up for you. Can you just not do this ever again please?â
