I cannot recommend Dirty Shirt enough. They are a folk/metal fusion band based in Transylvania.

Maybe I am biased because I grew up alternative and dancing to my culture's traditional music every year at festivals, but this is some of the most peak music I have ever heard. It's an effortless fusion of vocal and instrumental techniques that existed before the birth of christ, mixed with perfectly heavy guitar and metal screams.

I'd suggest their album FolkCore Detour to start, it's in collaboration with the Transylvanian Symphony Orchestra. Prepare for Face-melting fiddle and horns.

Gina Gleason of Baroness, Jo Bench of Bolt Thrower, Wata from Boris, Kris Esfandiari of King Woman, Stella Leung of Potion, Kristin Hayter of Lingua Ignota if that counts as metal? definitely metal-adjacent then im sure there’s more that didn’t come to mind
