Sabat al-Islambouli

(1867–1941) Physician

Sabat al-Islambouli was born into a family of Khurdish Jews in Damascus, Syria. She earned a medical degree at the Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1885. Upon receiving her degree she returned to work briefly in Damascus, then moved to Cairo in 1919, where she died in 1941. Her descendants now live in Canada.
