Make your own delicious KFC-style fried chicken at home using your air fryer. It's crispy, flavorful, and a healthier alternative to traditional deep-fried chicken.
Ingredients: 4 bone-in chicken pieces thighs, drumsticks, or a combination. 1 cup buttermilk. 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1 tablespoon paprika. 1 tablespoon garlic powder. 1 tablespoon onion powder. 1 tablespoon dried oregano. 1 tablespoon dried basil. 1 teaspoon salt. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Cooking spray.
Instructions: Place the chicken pieces in a bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Ensure they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Preheat your air fryer to 375F 190C. Take each marinated chicken piece, shake off excess buttermilk, and dredge it in the flour mixture until well coated. Press the flour mixture onto the chicken to make it stick. Place the coated chicken pieces in the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they don't touch each other. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Spray the chicken pieces with cooking spray to help them crisp up. Cook the chicken in the air fryer for 25-30 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165F 74C.
