The closest plan is the best plan. Take the first step, try, experience, adjust, and continue trying.
To a very great friend of mine. I know life is pulling you down right now... I cannot promise, that everything will be alright, but I promise you that you can always tell me everything and that I won't walk away. I can see it in your eyes... Even when you smile, there's something inside. You've been hurt so much and I wish I could take all the pain away... So this is for you. You are so strong, so brave and you will make it through. Keep fighting!
Regardless of whether or not you were able to participate in the March today, remember you can keep marching on by consistently calling on your elected officials and participating in the midterms this year. And above all, by using your voice and matching them with actions. Keep marching on. Always

So I don’t really have the words to express what I’m feeling. What I’m thinking. What I’m even doing. I’ve been so sad today. I woke up and all I could do was cry. I went to sleep the night before hoping that everything would be okay. But I woke up and to find that we as a country elected a monster, a sexist, bigoted racist, monster to be our next leader. I’m so frightened and terrified.
This doesn’t effect only us as a country. We will see the backlash from this day for the rest of my life and for many generations to come. Maybe you think I exaggerate, but of this I have no doubt. We have witnessed today what I believe to be the end of an era. Yes, it’s one man, but what he represents is so appalling so horrendous that there will be no coming back from this. The US is officially done as an economic leader and as a powerful world leader. Even if Trump doesn’t destroy us all in a spontaneous nuclear attack we will forever be changed and scarred by these events.
My friends who are minorities, immigrants, my friends who identify as queer or trans. my fellow women.... I don’t know what to say. Only that we will stand together to fight this evil and remain united against this hatred. Now more than ever is this important.
Here in France I have received so many condolences today. It’s like a part of me has died... and maybe that’s true. Many people have expressed how sorry they are for us as a country. There are also many, many people here who don’t understand. They’ve asked me to explain how a man like Donald Trump was able to become president of the United States... and I just don’t know. I looked at all these young French students who I was teaching, who don’t understand why a man like Trump became president and I didn’t know what to say. I looked at all their faces and watched videos from last night and cried. Today the fear has won. The hate has won. The word hate is so strong. As a young citizen of the United States I HATE everyone who has done this to us. I HATE the people who voted for Trump and I HATE the people who decided that voicing some stupid objection to “the system,” by voting third party, was more important than combating this terrible man. I HATE the electoral college and how yet again the popular vote doesn’t matter. I HATE that I now have to live with this decision.
But there is currently SO much hate..... So I will push that aside and work my cute little butt off to combat this hatred. I will live with this new future we find ourselves in by spreading love. I will no longer stand-by. I shed my tears today and I will shed a lot more tonight, but afterwards comes the anger. We will keep marching on and I will do my best as an American citizen to combat this man and this hatred in anyway I can. To the United States, I’ve never been more embarrassed then I am now to be a citizen, but I will do my duty and make the best of the worst thing that could have ever happened to this country.
