The tawny owl used to be called nattuggla in Swedish, which means ânight-owlâ and is a reasonable thing to call this bird. Today, however, itâs inexplicably known as kattuggla, or âcat-owlâ instead. Since the old and the new name sound so similar, Iâm convinced it started as a pun.
âHey Sven-Ove-Niklas, check out that PISSED looking owl!â âHahaha it looks like my cat when I forget to feed him!â âNattuggla more like KATTuggla!â
