Katisha and Jack Point.
The Mikado (Act I finale, excerpt)
The hour of gladness
Is dead and gone.
In silent sadness
I live alone.
The hopes I cherished --
All lifeless lies,
And all has perished,
All has perished --
Save love, which never dies,
Which never, never dies.
All I’m saying is that if The Mikado was set in modern day, Katisha would be fuckin killing it in the queer scene. Older woman with a domineering masochistic streak? I can see the lines now

Hello I need your help I am writing quiz bowl questions for my friends and I can’t remember for the life of me which of Katisha’s elbows is sexy
The relevant line is:
"You hold that I am not beautiful because my face is plain. But you know nothing; you are still unenlightened. Learn, then, that it is not in the face alone that beauty be sought. My face is unattractive! But I have a left shoulder-blade that is a miracle of loveliness. People come miles to see it. My right elbow has a fascination that few can resist."
However! Later on they say:
Pitti Sing: And that's only her face. She has a left elbow which people come miles to see! Pooh Bah: I am told that her right heel is much admired by connoisseurs.
However Pitti Sing and Pooh Bah seem to be conflating her elbow claims with her shoulder blade claims, suggesting to me that they were not really paying attention. The claims about her heel are wholly invented.
So if Katisha's own claims about herself are to be believed, it is her right elbow that has admirers and can be viewed on Tuesdays and Thursdays by appointment.
I have seen productions where Koko in the finale goes looking for her elbow, but I do not know if it's the (right) elbow that she initially boasts of or the (left) elbow that is misquoted to him later. It may differ by production.
Death At The Opera
Death At The Opera - a first-rate piece of #CrimeFiction from the pen of Gladys Mitchell #amreading
A review of Death at the Opera by Gladys Mitchell Also known as Death in the Wet, this is fifth outing (out of sixty-six) for Mitchell’s amateur sleuth, Mrs Bradley. I have read enough of her works to realise that you never quite know what you are getting yourself into when you turn the first page. Some things stay the same; Mrs Bradley, a psychoanalyst by trade, will continue with her eccentric…
