#Repost @jeffshotokan ・・・ Kata Feedback Series: Heian Yondan ▪️ Multiple stances, kicks, and arm techniques make this the most complex of the five Heians, and in many ways, one of the most important kata in all of traditional karate. ▪️ When you see a later kata like Kanku Dai, it is easy to see the fingerprints of this kata all over it. One of the key combinations that goes from Yoko Geri Keage into a Chudan Empi Uchi takes years to appreciate the subtleties. ▪️ Please leave any and all feedback, no matter how small of a detail. #Repost @jeffshotokan ・・・ Kata Feedback Series: Taikyoku Shodan (Redux) ▪️ So here’s my thinking in posting another version of the first kata I posted as a part of this series: These early kata are typically practiced in class while we are warming up, so I have a tendency to do them slowly and relaxed. Much of your feedback was pointed toward sinking lower in the stance, as well as coordinating hands and feet. That is what I paid attention to the most here, as well as starting slowly for a solid beginning, and then actually speeding up through the kata for speed and power. ▪️ Feel free to offer any feedback regarding areas you see that need further attention.
