from sparks into fireworks
a Leophelia rivals-to-lovers office AU, written for @aosficnet2‘s Topsy Turvy Hallmark Holiday Challenge!
Summary: Between an ever changing project timeline and trying to compete for the big office promotion, Leopold Fitz doesn't have time to adapt to working with a new partner right before the holidays. And that doesn't include everything else going on in his life - his ex-wife is engaged, he's missing time with his daughter, and his boss is out to get him. Ophelia is sick and tired of the boss's son having everything handed to him, and she's sure the big promotion isn't going to be any different. But that doesn't mean she isn't going to fight for it, even if she's been suddenly assigned to his project and has to deal with his foul mood for a week before Christmas. OR, I accidentally fell into the work-oriented-woman and dad-trying-his-best Hallmark tropes
Words: 14836
Leophelia, past-Fitzsimmons, background KaraWard and WillJem
Sneak Peek:
"As of right now, it seems as though Grant Ward is on paternity leave. We'll have to find you another partner for this project."
"Alistair, I can do it on my own, it's not-"
He was cut off before he could finish the sentence, his shoulders slouching while he frowned and set his jaw. It would be better for everyone involved if he didn't interrupt his stepfather with even so much as a sigh. "Leopold, you're getting a new partner, and that's final. If you can't play nice, I can give the entire project to someone else who can."
Leopold felt the rest of the fight leave him, biting his lip instead of speaking up right away. If the man who held the key to his livelihood didn't hate him for something he couldn't control, he wouldn't have hesitated at all, but a promotion was on the line. Unfortunately, he had to prove beyond a doubt that he deserved it, and Alistair had a lot of doubt, when it came to him. "Okay, fine, but I'm going to need a new partner quickly if you don't even want me to do the meeting for funding on my own."

My girlfriend recently got me addicted to AoS (I’ve always been more of a DC person) but man she will not stop making fun of me for the fact that my two favorite ships are Huntingbird and KaraWard. You know the people gone after season 3. Anyway thank you for posting your fics so I can cry like a gremlin at 2 am thinking about Kara and Grant
HELLO THERE, WELCOME TO RAREPAIR HELL
God, whenever I’m reminded of these two I just remember how much I LOVE them. Karaward was the first ship that I was actually invested in in AOS, and though I’ve never particularly shipped Huntingbird you have all of my solidarity there XD
Anyway, I’m glad you enjoyed my fics about them, they did Kara so DIRTY and it makes me so sad that they didn’t get to have their new house with their little cactus, DAMMIT
Just.........a little less murder a little more peace, okay? Or hell, have them rule Hydra together for all I care, JUST DON’T KILL THAT POOR WOMAN
(Turns out that I’m not even a little bit over them LOL)
Thank you for stopping by and giving me something to cry about on this fine night XD
10: "Would you stop that?!" + Karaward? (I miss my rarepair)
I feel you, every time I write something for them I'm reminded of how much a I love this ship, ugh. Anyway, AU in which Kara doesn't know who exactly sold her out, and Coulson reached out asking for help instead of barging into their lives. Enjoy!
“Kara?”
She clenches her jaw, ignoring the knocking vibrating against her back.
“Come on, open the door.”
She is not going to. He is being so unreasonable, so — he wants to leave her. There is no possible excuse for that, no good reason that he could give to make her accept that. Much less help him.
“Kara, please, can we — can we talk?”
It kills her a little, the way his voice cracks, the pleading — the way she can imagine him resting his forehead against the door.
He’s good at talking, her Grant. She doesn’t want to hear him. He’s already tried to wrap his abandonment in a nice ribbon, and she won’t have it.
She takes a breath, wiping a few tears away from her cheeks. “No,” she says, firmly, the word still tasting sweet, even after she’s started to get used to saying it.
He stays silent. If she didn’t know him, she might think he’s given up.
“I’m just trying to help you,” he eventually says, small and defeated in a way that thugs at her stomach but also makes her so angry, because — because she doesn’t want this from him. Why doesn’t he just listen?
What is so complicated about listening to what she’s saying that she wants, that she needs? He has been trying to do that since before she even knew how to listen to herself, why has he decided to stop? What did she do to make him think that he has to leave?
She’s on her feet before she can think any better of it, swinging the door open so fast that Grant almost loses his balance.
His very first reaction is breaking into a small, relieved smile at the sight of her, though it fades fast, she suspects because she’s glaring daggers at him and there are still tears in her eyes, anger and grief equally responsible.
“I don’t want you to do it,” she says, her voice trembling only slightly, her fingers still gripping the door. “It’s stupid, it’s reckless, it’s unnecessary.”

"you ccan't just go wandering off like that" and specialist 33? (i realize that the list is very old, i hope you don't mind!)
Ooooh, it’s been a while since I’ve written some Specialist 33! And nope, I definitely don’t mind, you can pick the prompt from whatever list you prefer, regardless of how long ago I reblogged it! I hope you’ll enjoy it <3 (prompts here)

When he spots her, standing by the sidewalk, lookingat the sea, he draws a sharp sigh of relief.
“Kara!” he calls, walking up to her. Actually, it’scloser to a run. He was scared, sue him.
“Grant,” she says, turning towards him. A smilelightens up her face as she calls his name, and she seems alright: unharmed, calm. Which means that she probably just went for a walk.
“Hey,” he says, slightly out of breath. He reaches forher arms, and she keeps looking at him like he just hung the moon. It’s quitethe ego boost, but he can’t really appreciate it right now, not before he hasmade sure that everything is fine and that she’ll try to avoid giving him anyheart attacks in the future. “Are you alright?” he asks.
“Yes, of course,” she frowns. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
He takes a deep breath, letting relief wash throughhim at the confirmation. “Jesus, Kara, you can’t just— go wandering off likethat,” he protests.
He feels her tensing against his touch, and her frownturns from confused to lost. He hates it when she looks like that. “Am I notallowed to leave?” she asks, her voice thin.
“What? No, no, that’s not—” He rubs his face with onehand, privately scolding himself for not thinking that it wouldn’t sound toogood to her after being trapped – in her own head, but still – by Hydra’sbrainwashing. He’s made it a point of showing her that she can choose to do andbe whatever the hell she wants, he can’t just go ahead and ruin it because hetook a scare. “I didn’t mean it like that,” he assures. “You can come and gowhenever you want, you— hell, if you want to ditch me altogether you can. Iwouldn’t like it, but—”
“I don’t want to,” she immediately assures, a slightsmile back on her face.
“Okay, good.” He smiles back. “Look, I just meant tosay that we have a lot of people that don’t particularly like us, so— if youwant to take a walk while I’m asleep, by all means, just— leave me a note orsomething.”
Kara just stares for a couple of seconds, then herthoughtful expression turns into another big smile, full of relief andunderstanding. “You were worried,” she states.
“Well, you did disappear on me,” he points out, with ashrug.
She keeps smiling, the turmoil now completely gonefrom her face. “I’m sorry I worried you. I’ll make sure to leave a note if Iwant to get out next time.”
“And remember the phone,” he adds.
“That too,” she agrees. She pauses, then she leanstowards him to lay a kiss on his cheek. “Thank you,” she says. At his lightfrown, she adds: “For worrying. It’s nice.”
He takes a moment to reciprocate her smile. “Not forme, it’s not,” he jokes then, slipping his arm around her shoulders so thatthey can both face the sea. “So, wanna stay out here a little longer? Mind thecompany?”
“Maybe a couple of minutes,” she says, taking his handand leaning against him. “And I’d like for you to stay, yes.”
“Okay, then.”
Standing still while staring at the scenery wouldn’tbe his first choice when it comes to how to spend his time, but Kara’s weightagainst him is nice and it all feels peaceful in a way that his life rarely is, so he’s just going to roll with it. He kind of likes the feeling.
